The location is great. It's within walking distance from Longshaw Estate and only about a 10-minute drive from Ladybower Dam Reservoir.
The food at the pub and the breakfast was quite disappointing. The room was OK but didn't seem very clean and the bathroom felt quite claustrophobic for me being a big guy. Sound insulation was non existent as one of the two nights of our stay, we had to wait for the guests staying downstairs to turn off their TV and stop talking so we could go to sleep. We really thought the place would benefit from a renovation and some improvement of the food served.
Lovely place, lovely location, comfortable.
The stench of drains was overpowering in the room, even with the bathroom door closed. We couldn’t stand it and left early.
Also, noise from the other rooms can be heard clearly, eg. TV’s and conversations.
Definitely not worth £159.
Food was good
Service was poor. Pub is old and dirty.
Excellent staff. Food was good
Room 11 the fan in the kitchen was on and disrupted our sleep.
Breakfast was excellent and the hotel was in a perfect location
Very limited menu, more a dietary problem I have which reduced the choice to only 3 main course dishes. More traditional home cooked choices and less Nando/Chimichanga bbq sauces would be better.
Great location, staff were great went above and beyond. All very friendly and attentive. Room was lovely clean and cosy perfect for what we needed.
Room was ok. Clean..
Hotel bar was a disaster. Been here a few times. 1 bar man, busy day. NEVER any glass collectors so because a little busy , at least 5 tables in the bar were full of dirty coffe cups, plates, glasses. This meant customers cleaning up every table and moving dirty glasses etc to the bar, which mounted up. Bar staff tried theor best but no leadership or anyone to take control. This happened the last time we stayed. Cold day outside so the limited staff lit the fire after 5.p.m which was too late. Forest impressions were not good. Lots of people giving up and leaving as it was a mess. Spoilt the experience of the stay. Not much difference in the restaurant either with too little staff and no leadership. Felt tiis place has gone downhill and they need to get a grip. A manager and a couple of glass collectors is needed.
Excellent staff, very welcoming and happy to help.
Room was excellent. A good size, comfortable and clean.
Excellent food.
Large potholes in the car park
The property was comfortable and well located for walkers and photographers. It is close to Longshaw Estate which was a pleasant visit and seemed popular with walkers.
Carpark can get full with walkers and runners not guests.
