We’d booked a two nights stay, on the first night we ate in the restaurant. My husband was violently sick through the night (we shared a pizza lunch earlier that day in the village but ordered different things from the menu that evening). We believe it was the scallop starter that caused his sickness as it was searingly hot which would indicate it was possibly reheated in a microwave. The following morning I reported this to the manager/owner. He disputed our claim and stated that seafood poisoning only occurs 12 to 18 hours afterwards, this is in fact incorrect, it can occur as early as 30 minutes after consumption. This was in no way in attempt to get out of paying for the meal, in fact I settled the bill immediately as my husband was desperate to get home, cutting our stay a day short. I wanted to bring it to their attention so that somebody elderly or vulnerable wouldn’t end up far worse off. We’re disgusted by the lack of attention to public health. It’s such a shame because it’s a beautiful place and the other staff were absolutely lovely, we are beyond disappointed.
Nice location
Bed was a little bit squeaky.
I would like to return with a group of friends for the fishing nearby but it seemed all the tables were booked in advance even in the bar....as a fishing party we would like a more informal bar area to meet and drink at night.
Excellent Welsh food. The restaurant is quirky and cute with rich heritage.
Cosy, characterful hotel with good breakfast and dinner menu. Clean, comfortable bedrooms. Adjacent parking. Reasonably priced.
Traffic noise can be heard in the rooms at the front of the hotel overlooking the roadway.
The property was very cozy and comfortable and very clean and well presented. Dylan who was the son of the owners was a very polite and accommodating young man and the pleasure to speak to breakfast in the morning was very very nicely cooked a full English breakfast or should I say a Welsh breakfast? The location of the hotel was very nice. It was in a High Street of shops and places to eat and a central part of Snowdonia to explore From. Swallow falls which is literally five minutes up the road by car is a must to stop and say and it only cost £2 to enter and afterwards there is a lovely cozy pub selling nice food and drink drinks. It was our first visit to Snowdonia and we loved it so very much. We are hoping to return very soon.
Nothing.
Beautiful property, great location 10min walk into the centre of town, fantastic food and family run.
It is the second time I have stayed here and would certainly return. Staff were great and my idea of a proper pub/inn.
Nothing
Lovely time capsule of a hotel, like stepping back in time.
Comfy bed, decent breakfast and a good pint served!
Got a call to ask if we wanted to book a table for dinner (about a week before), because they were nearly fully booked, which I thought was considerate of them and I am glad I did then book a table. Definitely book a table for dinner, in advance as it's a busy place.
Parking is limited, only 6 or so spaces or you Just need to park on the busy main road outside the pub.
What a fantastic find. The furnishings and decor are just how they should be for a 16th century inn. Breakfast was perfect and staff very accommodating. The view out of our window (room 6) looked over the river. Excellent location too. Will certainly be back.
Nothing not to like
Our original rooms were enough but due to work being done we were upgraded to the cottage. Very very nice place.

Going home
It’s was beautiful, full of character and clean and cosy. Breakfast was also amazing.
There was nothing we didn’t like as such other than the shower was ice cold even on the highest heat setting but it didn’t spoil our stay.
This is a very charming coaching Inn with lots of character .Great room, lovely food and a warm welcome.
Everything. Room was lovely with a four poster bed and jacuzzi bath. Food was excellent, Breakfast and Evening meals delicious. Most enjoyable stay. Good location. Short walk into town of Betys-y-coed which is picturesque and charming.
Floorboards were a little bit creaky but not surprising when the Coaching Inn is 500 years old. We could hear the guests upstairs very often but it didn't bother us too much.
Lovely comfortable four poster bed and spa bath
Some early morning road noise but an old coaching inn has to be next to aroad
Very cosy accommodation with great food.
