The dining room - dark, miserable - no ambiance. It looks like a cafe . At the room rate paid it came as a shock . Breakfast for us was extremely disappointing. All we wanted was toast and marmalade. We waited nearly 15 minutes for this on the first morning . We were brought 6 small slices of thin white sliced , 3 of which were burnt black on one side. Who on earth sends this out of the kitchen? The tea pot had a broken lid and fell off at the first pour. On the second morning all we asked for was 2 pain au chocolate. After 10 minutes we were told “ there is only one, one of you can have a croissant.” We then waited another 10 minutes for these to appear. Unbelievable ! The lounge was cold. Dim lighting. No newspapers or magazines available - in fact - nothing ! Again - no ambiance. The entrance has no appeal - three large planters at the front door with dead shrubs - only thing alive was weeds. What does this say to guests on arrival - ‘ we don’t care’ ? As noted by other guests - only two tea bags on the bedroom tea tray. No towel rails near the bathroom sink - only the radiator in the toilet. Bedside lights too dim to reads by.

Wasn't too impressed with the breakfast or the serving staff.

We didn’t have long enough here! We didn’t really have a chance to enjoy the music in the bar and relaxing in the hotel due to our own time constraints. We will have to book again….!

The room was quite warm (25°), and I had to keep the fan running all night. There was also a gap under my door that let in a lot of light from the hallway, I had to use a towel at the bottom to block the light. There was a really bad smell coming from the bathroom, it smelled like drains. Also when I arrived there was no one at the front desk, and I had to call on the phone for them to appear and another customer told me the same thing happened to them the day previously. Once the lady arrived she was lovely and very helpful but after a day of travel it would have been nice to be greeted by a person.

The general cleaning of the placed left a lot to be desired. Entrance was dirty and full of leafs, downstairs wooden floor was dirty and sticky. Every time you went to the breakfast/ dinning area you had to pass this room off the corridor which always had the door open and it was very messy and dirty inside. We stayed 2 nights and the room was not cleaned second night, bins were not cleaned .. generally there was a lot of dust everywhere from cob webs on lampshades to bathroom surfaces. Tea bags not replenished on second day.. when called reception at 20:50.. no one picked the phone or listen to the messages left. You have to pay extra for parking for all the day time you are at the hotel.

A lot of stairs a bit run down

All the stairs. Up one flight, corridor, down some more stairs, up again. not good for my partially disabled wife. Should have been told in the original booking form.

Staff can be hard to find when you need them. We were not impressed with the frosted bathroom door as we could see each other sitting on the toilet!! Also there was no light above or near the wash basin making it difficult to see in the mirror above (this was in Brown bedroom). Breakfast menu didn't include everything that was available i.e. fruit juices and some menu items were not available. Hated toasted sourdough bread, goes rock hard!
