I have been here for 40 years .+ so know the expectations, in fact celebrated my 50th birthday here with 50 friends!
I guess it’s a sign of the times but slightly disappointing.
Don’t wish to be critical but not great.
Bedroom nice, stayed here a few times, the staff tried to a degree but not ideal to be told at 21.30 that the place closed at 22.00. If this the norm then we didn’t know. If we had we wouldn’t have chosen this great place!
Location, view and comfort.
Not enough water in the room and reception locked
All good, food, staff and service was great. Great shower, comfortable bed an fresh clean linen.
What's not to like,
Possibly only the stairs up and down to the loo and showroom!
As above
Extremely helpful staff, very pleasant and attentive
The decor looks a little tired but it was closing for one month on the day of our departure for refurbishment.
Lovely pub. Warm and friendly. Food was grear
The room was amazing. The food and pub were everything we wanted. We enjoyed it so much we extended our holiday to stay an extra day at the end in this pub.
Everything, the staff were so attentive.
Nothing to dislike
We have stayed here before and love the location
It has become very tired with worn carpets, windows without blinds or curtains and a scruffy feel
Lovely rooms & excellent care from the staff.
I would have liked breakfast earlier than 9am, but in fairness I didn’t ask in which case they may have accommodated it.
Nice quality room , dinner also good.
At 8.00am the temperature in the room was 13C with no heating. Breakfast was not available until 9 o’clock- a big problem when we had to be in Kendal for 9.15.
Great country pub with lovely staff, good food and we loved staying in Strawberry Bank. It was a suite with a four poster bed, free standing bath in the living space and a fire with seating. So nice to sit and relax and watch the rain outside.
I personally didn’t enjoy the breakfast. We have stayed in a few different pubs within the same group and I’ve tried different options and struggle to find the right light choice for me. The chef kindly made me scrambled eggs on toast but it was very runny eggs on one piece of toast that went soggy because the eggs were runny. My husband really enjoyed his breakfast sandwich though.
