The friendliness of the staff.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially with our bags and a very late check-in. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was delicious. I'd definitely stay here again in the future if I visit Holy Island again.

Staff, location, food was all excellent
Room was quite warm through the night
This lovely inn has a pub and restaurant on the ground floor and lodging above. Our room was outstanding! It overlooked the harbour of the island as well as the historic priory and statue of Saint Cuthbert right outside. The room was nicely appointed, mattress and linens lovely, and the bathroom was massive. Water pressure gave us powerful hot showers. The food in the pub was equally good! We had a lunch and a supper there. The cheeseburger is tasty and generous of proportion. The chips - delicious. The chopped salad that I had with the fishcakes was fresh and crunchy. The fishcakes were adequate. Supper was an absolute delight! The lemon sole was done perfectly and the accompanying samphire and potatoes complemented it nicely. My partner had the king prawns which were also perfectly done (neither soft nor overly firm...just right). The staff are to be commended on their helpfulness and cheery disposition. It didn't matter whether it was the bartenders, the wait staff, the desk staff or the domestic staff. Everyone treated us like we were welcome and they were happy to see us. The location is out of the fray of the touristy centre of the village which would be greatly appreciated in the busy summer season. For us it allowed a quiet getaway but still in walking distance to everything we go to Holy Island to see.
Only one issue which I believe Booking.com also is responsible for. The day prior to arrival, I received no less than 10 emails asking me to confirm my reservation. I responded once to each...one from the hotel and one from Booking.com. They just kept coming! I suspect this is an automatic process via booking.com however I've never encountered this before. I would ask booking.com to look into this as it doesn't reflect well on the property and it doesn't seem to be their doing.
Staff were very friendly
Rooms very small not too clean
This could be the best breakfast ever. I had the full breakfast, my wife the vegetarian. Both were superb. Great quality perfectly cooked .
Great staff, great food
Leaving so soon
Staff were excellent - friendly and very helpful. The scenery and wildlife on the island was exceptional.
Room decor and furniture was a bit old-fashioned. And it was very expensive.
Unique and cosy
Maybe slightly dated but was in keeping with the island.
Location
Bar area aesthetically pleasing and cosy
Stairwell and rooms a bit care worn
Electricity outage - generator not working Not good if you require a breathing machine for sleep apnoea.
No hot breakfast as a result - could have offered brunch later or some refund , discount from evening meal 🤔
3rd bed in room was a spring bed and some of the springs had sprung - resulting in a poor night's sleep for my daughter
Everything !!
Very friendly staff, beautiful room facing the castly, excellent evening meal and breakfast ( local kipper) and very convenient for the island paths and abbey
Nothing
Friendly staff, lovely breakfast got upgraded room at no extra cost which was beautiful with views of castle and priory.
Weather was bad rain couldn't explore much due to this but will be back in nicer weather
Locaton was excellent. The service was great. The food was excellent
the decor was a bit tired at places
The staff were all very friendly, helpful and approachable. It was my birthday during our stay and they even produced a birthday card!
Beautiful and historic manor house in the prime spot on the island, I would say! Everything was very smart, clean and the room was elegantly furnished and felt like a beautiful step
Back in time.
The location was wonderful and the staff were friendly and helping. The evening meal we had was delicious.
The accommodation was not very clean. It really needs updating. We are staying in a Premier Inn tonight and it is much cleaner and more comfortable.
Superb location with a lovely views of the harbour
