We booked the stay since we needed to stop for the night with our kids but we received a call from the owner telling us they cannot accomodate us. That was hours after we had booked it. Not nice
Nice location, at the edge of a forest. The lady who took care of the place allowed us to pay the following day (we didn’t have any cash on us and we arrived at 11 p.m). During daylight, she seemed nice.
Picture this: We arrive at the hotel at 11 pm. Two adults and a 4 year-old. Quiet. Empty. We go to the reception. Nobody there. Just a couple of old mattresses piled on top of each other and a strong, damp smell of an old house.
Suddenly, we hear footsteps behind us. We turn around and see an old woman (white hair tied in a bun, elegant, someone who must have been beautiful 50 years ago) slowly coming down the spiral staircase. She speaks only Bulgarian. We don’t. Eventually, we understand that she accepts only cash. We don’t have any, so we decide to leave. But soon we realize it’s too late to find another place (with an exhausted 4 year-old), so we return and explain through Google Translate that one of us will go to town to withdraw money. She agrees.
She then leads us upstairs to our room. On the walls: strange anatomy drawings and astrological signs. Creepy. But the real creepiness starts when she opens the door to our room. The walls are covered with numerology, astrology, tarot, and Masonic symbols. And above them all, one chilling image: seven demons in a circle with the message: “Please do not read the demons’ names out loud.”Mirrors stuck to the walls. Speakers in the ceiling, both in the room and the bathroom.
“Creepy” is an understatement. Honestly, it felt like we had stepped into the lair of a cult, waiting to hear incantations in the middle of the night. I managed to fall asleep at 3 am. The hallway light, of course, stayed on all night.
As for the rest: dirty curtains, grimy bathroom tiles, old furniture, cobwebs in the corners.
Long story short: we survived, but it felt like the beginning of a Netflix horror film. If you’re into horror stories, sure, you’ll get some thrills here.
Просторна стая и удобно легло.
Има проблем с чистотата!!!!
Вного любезна собственичкатана лотела лично нинаправи закуска.
Много малка стая,едва се разминавахме. Хладилника не работеше.
Хотела е със странен интериор.
Location is in the forest, very quiet. Room are clean
It was just us. Creepy. Outside in very bad condition. In the hallway smells badly.
- Beautiful location at the edge of a small forest
- Calm and relaxing
- Could hear nature life
- Almost no other guests
The place feels like it is run by a single very old lady who has hearing issues. It took us 3 tries to check-in as no one was at the hotel and they weren't picking up the phone.
The interior leans into the human design gimmick way too much. Perhaps this was a gathering place for followers at one point? No idea, but nevertheless the amount of it makes it borderline creepy.
I guess that's the whole aura of the place and likely part of the appeal? It does feel like you've walked into a Balkan version of Twin Peaks and you do start questioning whether what you see and hear is actually real.
Beds were comfy, but we had no towels and had to put on the sheets ourselves.
Interesting place to stay. The art in the hotel is very intriguing. At time you feel odd and uncomfortable because of it. We stayed for a night and nobody else was in the hotel. Even the personal working there wasn’t. We were able to explore the whole place. So many spiritual books at the library at each floor. Each floor has its own art posters. You may need days to read them all and understand them. In general we had a nice and silent stay. Would go back to learn more about the wall art.
Bathrooms were a bit outdated and not in a good shape. Lady at the reception was a bit rude (not to us but to a person calling her asking for reservation)
