Bon pied-à-terre dans le centre de Madurai
Pros:

Chambre de taille modeste, pas très grande mais bien agencée. Eau chaude dans la salle de bain et literie confortable. Parfait pour un voyageur solo.
Personnel sympathique et flexible : je suis arrivé à l’aube, vers 5 heures du matin, pour le check-in.
L’établissement est situé non loin du temple principal de la ville.

Cons:

Un peu bruyant à cause des nuisances extérieures le soir et tôt le matin.

Comfortable rooms a short walk from Meenakshi Temple
Pros:

Very comfortable bed and functional AC. Very close to Madurai Junction railway station.

Cons:

The greeting upon arrival was rather gruff, but fine. There was a bit of wear and tear in the room, but it was certainly very clean.

Gutes Hotel in praktischer Lage
Pros:

Das Hotel hat alles, was ich für eine Nacht Zwischenstop in Madurai brauchte: zu Fuß vom Bahnhof aus erreichbar, nah zu Fuß zum Tempel und zur Innenstadt, wenig Verkehrslärm zu hören, ein sauberes Zimmer, eine heiße Dusche, gutes Wifi. Und last but not least ein freundliches Team an der Rezi. :-) Gerne wieder einmal!

Un hôtel bien situé et confortable, avec quelques détails à améliorer
Pros:

L’hôtel bénéficie d’un très bon emplacement, à proximité immédiate de la gare routière et ferroviaire, du temple principal et du Palais. Juste à côté, on trouve un excellent petit restaurant local à prix très raisonnable : le Sri Sabareesh, situé au 49A de la rue (en sortant, prendre à droite puis encore à droite).

Le lit est confortable. J’ai simplement demandé à changer les draps et la serviette à cause d’un cheveu trouvé, et cela a été fait immédiatement. La salle de bain est propre, avec savon en distributeur, brosse à dents fournie et eau chaude le matin (tiède en journée). Une bouilloire est disponible, mais sans thé ni café.

Cons:

Petit bémol concernant l’accueil : bien que présents à la réception, le personnel reste assez distant. En revanche, ils ont gentiment commandé un tuk-tuk pour me conduire à la gare routière afin de prendre mon bus de nuit pour Varkala.
Enfin, je ne recommande pas la visite du lac Vandiyur, qui est éloigné et sans réel intérêt. Pour les déplacements, j’utilise souvent l’application Uber : je paie le montant affiché (inférieur aux tarifs demandés dans la rue), le conducteur est satisfait et cela évite toute négociation.
