Its location was spot on
Very poorly looked after properly, with very rude can’t be bothered staff, they were rude from the moment we got there, a key fir the room, and no way into the property, if you come back after 10,30,99,08 it was clear they had sold the property and just didn’t give a stuff anymore
I loved that the owners Thomas and Sandra took care of me being a love female. They went above and beyond to make me feel welcome.
Nothing
Room had a bath.
I was greeted by a rather sullen woman and shown to a family room with decoration that was well past it's best. Tiny TV. Later in the evening, a more friendly lady explained the process for breakfast. I was already aware that only a buffet would be available, but in the event there was none of the promised toast and no coffee. No staff on site at 0830 other than the cleaner. This hotel was substantially more expensive than any of the other hotels on my four day trip in Yorkshire, all of which served a good cooked breakfast and offered free Wifi. I am pretty sure that the liquid soap provided in the room had been watered down. I am not surprised that this hotel is for sale.
Room was clean
Needs updating. The property is up for sale and clearly needs some investment. No internet, cooked breakfast not available which is poor considering the cost of the room.
Position within the village
Friendly staff, very nice food, good bar. Room was comfortable and clean.
I think the owners have give up to be honest as business is up for sale. No cooked breakfast, just cereal and toast. TV remote controls for rooms all kept in a bag at the bar and you have to ask for one. The 'information pack' in your rooms is laughable as its basically a list of Dos and Don'ts and quite intimidating.
The location of the crown is excellent for walking around the Y3P.
The premises is very tired and they need of refurbishment
Some of the carpets were thread bear
notices everywhere, telling you what you couldn’t do
Location
It felt like we were a hindrance to the owner. No WiFi and with paying £135 I’d expect a cooked breakfast and not some toast and cereal. The hotel smells of damp and the beds uncomfortable. For some reason the bar stools and benches had black plastic bags on them. Owner clearly wants to sell his business.
A very nice pub with nice and kind service.
It’s location
The room. The food. Bar hours. No wifi. Very difficult to make contact with them. Sat outside for ages waiting for them to open.
The Crown is in a great location on the Pennine Way. The owners were friendly and welcoming. The evening meal in the bar was good and substantial. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
The room decor was 'dated' but the pub is up for sale so maybe that will be sorted by the new owners. Breakfast is continental only, I would have expected cooked breakfast for the price I paid.
The location was perfect for walking.
The mattress was too hard, so I didn't sleep well. The breakfast was quite basic, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, and toast with fruit juice, tea, and coffee.
