Sehr angenehm & wunderschön, aber eher für japanische Gäste
Pros:

Positiv:
- trotz teils geringer Englischkenntnisse war das Personal wirklich sehr freundlich & bemüht
- das Zimmer & der private Onsen sind wirklich sehr schön & sehr sauber
- der Ausblick
- die Lage (ca. 5min mit dem Bus zum Hafen mit dem Piratenschiff in Hakone)
- qualitativ sehr hochwertige Zutaten sowohl beim Frühstück als auch Abendessen
- kostenfreier Shuttle Service von & nach Odawara Station
- sehr ordentliches Housekeeping

Cons:

Negativ:
- keine Minibar, nur Wasser
- leckeres Essen, aber wirklich sehr kleine Portionen
- sehr anonym (kommt drauf an, ob man das mag), aber alles wirkte extrem leer & distanziert. Die Bar hat nur von 21-23h auf und war dauerhaft unbesucht
- es kam uns zumindest so vor als wäre das Hotel eher auf japanische Gäste ausgelegt, was logisch ist, aber teilweise hat man sich ein wenig fehl am Platz gefühlt

A relaxing escape after 7 days of heavy exploring
Pros:

The onsen bath on our deck was terrific; we soaked multiple times every day. Our package included breakfast and dinner. The meals and service were excellent. The hotel is a bit distant from the towns, however it is very close to the Pirate Ship which made it easy to do the Hakone Loop in reverse. Most visitors END the loop with the Pirate Ship and bus back to town. We started with the ship and it was MUCH LESS CROWDED then the volume of people coming the other way. Excellent. A huge thanks to staff member Misaki Izawa, she was delightful and very helpful.

Cons:

I was a little worried about having the set meals (no ala carte options) but the meals and service were so good; we stayed 3 nights and had no complaints.

romantic, beautiful, relaxing
Pros:

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and it was truly unforgettable. The staff is absolutely amazing—so warm, attentive, and thoughtful in every interaction. Our room was luxurious and beautifully designed, with every detail adding to the relaxing atmosphere. The entire property is quiet, peaceful, and feels like a hidden escape in Hakone.... the private onsens in your room are a HUGE PLUS!!! They also provide breakfast and dinner... which is so fancy and elaborate. Every night is coursed meal with great quality fish and meats. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a serene, romantic getaway. We will be coming back here!!

Excellent stay
Pros:

The hotel was fantastic. Every staff member was very attentive and the food by Chef Sinozaki Yusuke was absolutely amazing. The private Onsen on the balcony was very relaxing and had an amazing view of the lake and the mountains. The hotel is a short walking distance from the bus station so you can get around fairly easy.

Beautiful place
Pros:

In a beautiful location with a great view of Lake Ashinoko below. Delicious French cuisine ( but set times for dinner and breakfast)
All the staff was very friendly and helpful, but especially Misaki, the front desk receptionist . She speaks excellent English, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome there.

Cons:

It’s a little bit of a climb to walk there from the bus stop, especially with luggage, so one has to be physically fit
Otherwise better to take a taxi. But in the off season taxi service is not always easy to get.

Money well spent - pictures, service, and facilities didn't disappoint! Deserves a repeat visit!
Pros:

The customer service was excellent. The staff tried extremely hard to speak with me in English. The in-room and spa facilities were exceptional. A lot of attention went towards the French dinner. Very thankful for the hotel car pick up at Odawara!

Cons:

Understanding the public transportation schedule would have been helpful - but not a showstopper.

Fantastic property, needs a refresh of the dining concept.
Pros:

Incredible views, clean and high quality lodging, in room bath on balcony and Onsen is a standout

Cons:

Compared to other 4 star ryokans, the Kaeseki dinner was not particularly memorable or flavourful (in any good way at least). Overall I would say both nights were quite was bland and the ingredients appeared sad/low quality. In particular, the grilled beef course prepared on the second night was grisly and unpalatable. Breakfast was somewhat better, albeit simple (bread, eggs, fruit).

Incredible room inclusions but not worth the price
Pros:

Incredible facilities in room and inclusions were very high end

Cons:

Staff were difficult to speak to with limited English. The food was good but not incredible given price. Its difficult to get to.
Only supplied 1 small bottle of water for entire stay. No access to other food outside of what was served at dinner despite still being hungry.

Pros:

The location, and view spectacular from my room. The open air hot spring bath from my room was perfect I truly enjoyed, My stay was amazing a this hotel I wish would have more days to enjoy it more. Onsen at the hotel was amazing 3 different temperatures pools with exceptional view and sauna. Best skin and hair care products at the onsen and my room were exceptional. Breakfast and Dinner was really good French/Japanese fusion. Thanks to the staff for providing a warm welcome and taking care of us during our stay. Staff, services, and amenities are exceptional!!
