Upon arrival, a staff member asked what time we wanted breakfast. We mentioned that we hadn’t planned on having breakfast at the hotel, as we intended to eat at a nearby café in the sunshine. She then informed us that breakfast was included with our rooms, so we agreed to stay for it. However, the breakfast was served in a small underground room that was too cramped for the number of guests.
When we checked out, a different staff member informed me that the lady had accidentally canceled my booking, and I might receive an email indicating that it was canceled. At the time, I didn’t think much of it, but now I realize that canceling the booking could prevent us from leaving a review on bookings.com.
Additionally, the man at check-out tried to charge us for eight breakfasts at €16 each. I argued that the lady had told us breakfast was included and that we wouldn’t have eaten otherwise. He said there was nothing he could do but reduce the price to €10 per breakfast. I reluctantly paid, but the whole situation felt very sneaky.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s expensive, old, and falling apart. The way they handled the booking and breakfast charges was extremely disappointing.
Worse hotel I have been in years . Room was terrible . See pictures. Dirty and not hygienic .
Bathroom was so dirty and with unfinished repairs . Breakfast in the basement had no bread or food by 8:45am. Often none in reception and anybody could access the room keys therefore not secured .
Not much to say, this hotel is the worst I've ever stayed in. I'll start with the negatives.
- No parking, it costs a fortune to park for a day, if you can't park in the market opposite (EUR 18 per day nearby)
- Room had a huge gaping hole near the lock on the door. Someone could easily smash down door down if they wanted to.
- Bath had no shower curtain. No holder for the shower head either. NO HOT WATER either, throughout our stay. Luckily I could shower at the local gold course. Its ok though, I was offered a free beer in return...... Madness.
- Windows didn't lock properly, no Air Con in the rooms.
- Funny smell in the lobby.
- Breakfast down in the basement. "Continental" breakfast consists of two types of croissant and a bowl of cereal and a yoghurt. Not the best to be honest.
- Hotel felt dirty throughout
- Very loud at night with the Brasserie downstairs that seems to be open with thumping music until the early hours, every night.
- Lots of tourists/party animals walking past till early hours, very loud shouting/talking etc.
Positives:
- easy access into town
- lovely cafe just downstairs for breakfast/lunches. Had some live music aswell which was nice in the sun.
- Bed Sheets were clean and comfortable
- Easy access to the Golf resorts (6 mins in the car)
I will not be returning to Pol Hotel. While the people are friendly, I'd rather not visit again. Unless I'm forced to by the Golfing Package Agents.
Disappointed with room it was sold as superior room, it was a double bed and a tv
The shower head was attached to bath taps so ment holding to wash, which is not easy
There was a musty smell throughout hotel
I did complain and was told could upgrade for another €70 to loft which is the standard l would expect, had paid €135 already
Ending on a positive the bed was comfortable
We booked this hotel through a golf tour operator and were not expecting much...very accurate expectation. We were taken to our room, which I quickly said didn't look anything like the pictures and wanted to see another room. We were then taken to Room 15 which was through the courtyard and in the lower ground floor. The room itself was spacious and worked really well for a couple on a 4 night golf getaway, with an armchair seating area 4-post bed, ample storage, large bath. The shower was hand-held annoyingly but you just have to make it work. Breakfast is just baguette yoghurt and tinned fruit but the staff are very sweet. Parking is an issue, but during the weekdays and off-season you can park outside the hotel at no charge
Very unpleasant experience, and felt ripped off. The door/window in the room didn't lock and they knew in advance there was a problem. We asked twice if it was to be fixed and they said it would be, but it wasn't. We were not offered another room, even though (unsurprisingly) there was only one other guest in the hotel. Breakfast was good, though very expensive and served at a coffee table in the lounge - not a dining table. Parking in the town seems very expensive, though that's not the hotel's fault.
Air conditioning didn't work, there was no mini-bar as advertised and no proper shower (a shower head on the bath tap but no shower curtain, so could only squat in the bath.
Definitely wouldn't stay again. An expensive mistake.
Never been so mislead by looking at the photos of a hotel. It’s absolutely chocking. We stayed in this hotel 10 years ago. So fresh, modern and friendly.
After seeing the horrible state of the room we asked to leave. We were told that we had to pay for our stay anyway. Will never return!
friendly staff, great central ,location. Le Touquet is a great seaside town on the northern French coast, very similar to Eastbourne or Hasting but without the hills. Beach goes on for miles and is sandy and well maintained. The Pol hotel is a good place to experience a wonderful friend town.
Booked a two night stay here with a group of four, we booked the family room which actually served the purpose however it was not set up to accommodate four. The photos on the website are not accurate either, the bar is the hotel reception & there are not the facilities in the room that are stated The parking is the main issue though, the gentleman advised that street parking was fine but parking in the market square was not. Following his advice we parked on the street- to find our car had been towed away over night, along with 20+ plus others (plus other hotel guests). The guy on reception claimed to have told us to park elsewhere by the beach- which he didn’t, and was more than unhelpful. Just a horribly rude individual. Le Touquet is such a lovely town with amazing locals providing brilliant food amongst the many bars and restaurants, this ‘local’ however is giving the area a bad name. Do not waste your money in his hotel- book elsewhere!!
Every time I go to Le Touquet, Hotel Pol is my first choice but please fix the air con. The street below is vibrant which is great but sometimes we need to sleep. It’s a fantastic place, so well positioned and just needs a little attention to the details - more light in the bathroom, air conditioning. We booked a superior room and all that is required is for everything in the room to work as hoped for. Also the safe didn’t work.
I mistakenly booked a room at this hotel for the wrong date on booking.com. The very next day I realised this and contacted the hotel asking to change the date of the booking. The room I had booked was not available however the hotel confirmed that they did have other rooms available. They were not prepared however to change the reservation. I also contacted booking.com who could not have been more helpful and did attempt to renegotiate with the hotel directly on my behalf. I find it astonishing that the hotel was so inflexible particularly when I contacted them only 16 hours after the original booking. £120 down the drain. Really poor customer service and just incredible attitude.
Booked 3 rooms very basic for the money. The gentleman on reception very unhelpful. Rooms extremely basic one room the hairdryer didn’t work the blind fell off the window the toilet roll holder fell off the wall also smelt of urine. The bed so uncomfortable. The staff really not interested in the customer. The parking an issue the staff did not give any correct advice for parking. Would highly recommend you don’t stay here for the money I’m sure you could get better for less money. Stayed 30th dec 2918
No parking (especially if you want security for cases)
No hot water
No WiFi in rooms
No heating in bathroom or toilet. Cold. Cold. Cold. Heating in bedroom is a blower (on your face when in bed) and there is no heating at all in the bathroom.
The pictures must be 5 years out of date on the website. The place itself is well located on the street, by the market, but is noisy when the market is setting up and it’s where you’re supposed to park !
The place as you enter smells (maybe of dogs). The whole place is tired and I need of decoration - bedrooms and bathrooms are particularly grim (and we booked delux)
Whole place needs maintenance, hoovering and a good clean.
One of the worst places I’ve had to stay - we arrived late and had little choice - I’d advise anyone else to pick somewhere else. A strange, bizarre, experience from start to finish.
Arrived late Thursday afternoon and was greeted by a nice gentleman who was helpful and did his best considering our lack of French vocabulary and his struggle with English. We stayed in room 10 which was clean and tidy although the bathroom could do with some freshening up. There was no tea/coffee facilities or mini bar. We parked only meters away from the hotel door that night but had to move several streets away before 9.00 am or we would have been towed away. There is no dedicated car parking at the hotel. The location is great for the bars, restaurant, market and beach. Breakfast was continental and sufficient. There is a clean, small bar/coffee area next to reception but we didn't use it. There were areas that could be cleaned and tidied to bring the feeling of the hotel up but we had a good stay and all the staff were polite. Thank you all for being patient with us considering our french is basic.
