Nice views but a hike up
Pros:

Quirky hotel, older facilities but larger rooms and excellent views (but you have to work for them) nice robes

Cons:

High up the hill, we left our luggage in a locker near the train and only brought essentials for 1 night

Altes Haus, mit ganz viel Herz des Personals mehr als ausgeglichen! Wir würden wiederkommen!!

Perfekter Service, wir haben die elektrische Zahnbürste im Zimmer vergessen, sie wurde uns unkompliziert ins nächste Hotel gesandt!!
Das japanische Morgenessen war ein Erlebnis!

Cons:

Der Weg zum Hotel ist sehr abenteuerlich. Aber: wer lesen kann, ist klar im Vorteil!

Buena opción
Pros:

Estupendas vistas. Está en lo alto de la colina y hay unos 20 minutos de subida por escaleras. Te puedes quedar a cenar en su estupendo restaurante y pasear desde el hotel hacia el funicular y así no bajas . La habitación es amplia y un poco desgastada.

No tener opción de desayuno más occidental

I made a booking in last min, so cannot say much.
Pros:

View from the hill

Cons:

There is no way if u just follow google map, cuz too hilly n many steep steps to bring ur bike with u. I ended up parking my rental bike in the middle before endless stone steps. I asked the owner's wife if its ok n she was not sure...but later I asked local uncle who lives in front n he said no problem,lol.

U need to take a taxi or cycle there in another route for an option which I wanted to know beforehand.

I just checked in n walked down struggling stone steps to get some take away food from the station n climb up again.

Wifi useless.

Amazing view, spacious rooms and very friendly environment. I would definitely stay there again!

One of our fav stays of our trip
Pros:

The hotel was so unique, it truelly felt like stepping in their house. The owners were also super kind and hospitable and the Thai food was amazing!

Cons:

It is best to go by cab as it is on the hill, so if staying near shops and in the centre of Onomichi is your thing, this might not be for you.
