Excellent food, great garden and location and Rowan eager to help all your needs,
I had a fantastic experience at this property! The food was delicious, local food with a great variety. What really stood out was the excellent customer service—the staff was attentive and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for great hospitality and excellent Sri Lankan food.
This location has poor 4G coverage
Very good hospitality and value for money.
The accommodations are quiet, comfortable and clean in a relaxing environment amongst the trees. The food was healthy and tasty. A number of useful services are available: Wi-Fi, tours, airport transfer. The hosts are most helpful and pleasant.
Great location in the middle of a really timy village, completely surrounded by nature. The nicest host family, who made everything to make our stay comfortable. We had wonderful dinner and breakfast. Really calm and beautiful place. Beautiful clean room with hot water. We really recommend renting a bike and biking to the Ritigala mountain.
Food was good and we requested an early breakfast which was arranged on time. Room was nicely arranged. This is very close to Ritigala archaeological site. Service was excellent. Managed by a family and they make sure to help and support in anyway possible.
There were some mosquitos, it was manageable.
Kumara and his wife took really good care of us. Their place really is hidden in a lovely garden, with a nice pattio and hammocks under palm trees.
The most special thing about this place is the food: it is organic and local (from the garden or the neighbours). Everyday you can try something else. The hosts offer cooking classes in a traditional mud hut.
Additionaly Kumara showed us a lot of places: Rigitale Mountain, Sigiriya, Dambulla, but also some batik, jewelry and spice shops.
Very good place, we will come again
What an amazing place and people; you feel at home and honoured guest at the same time. We loved the food, garden, flute player and the family atmosphere. We will come back!
Service, breakfast and dinner, clean, silence, friendly owner, everything was good!
Internet was low speed
The owner very kindly made time to take me to the Ridigala Forest Monastery, and this was a highlight of my visit to Sri Lanka. The ruins of a sophisticated Buddhist monastery, set in virgin forest, are fascinating, and the environment so tranquil and beautiful. The "Hideaway" is indeed just that, set some 800m off the main road on a quiet lane, and offers comfortable accommodation and delicious, homecooked food made with organic ingredients sourced locally (in some cases direct from the garden). A very relaxing, "home from home" environment.
I only wish I had been able to stay longer, to climb Mt Ridigala (a challenging 9 hours expedition, but no doubt well worth it) and to partake in a cookery class. Next time!
