Pros: The location right by the beach is beautiful. The hotel provides private sunbeds and serves a nice breakfast right at the beach. You feel like you’re in a secluded place, get to watch surfers all day and are just a short walk away from Polhena beach (the hotel beach is nicer, although quite rough/dangerous for swimming) and an area where you can see and swim with lots of turtles. Plenty of restaurants nearby aswell as scooter rental and place to get your laundry washed.
The owner gave us a great tip on where to find turtles (by the doctors house, it’s a restaurant/club. We were originally headed to the tourist hotspot but thanks to him we went to a much better place).

Cons:

Negative: We were very disappointed with the room. If all you need is a bed and a functioning warm shower, then it‘s enough. If you‘d like a bit of comfort, don‘t stay here. This is the sole reason we left. Already after the first night we considered cancelling the next two nights that we had booked. Only stayed because the beach and surroundings really are quite nice.

The room consists literally of an uncomfortable, hard bed, two bedside tables, a rug, a desk without a chair, one coat hanger and a bathroom which you can see in from the bedroom (door and walls are mostly out of transparent glass, zero privacy when travelling with a partner or friend. Don‘t enjoy being watched while sitting on the toilet). The walls/corners are full of dead insects. Zero kind of decoration or anything to make the room just a little bit nicer.
According to the homepage there should have been a safe and wifi, we didn‘t have either.
During our whole 3 week stay in Sri Lanka this is also the first room where we didn‘t have at least a fridge or a kettle for coffee/tea. And it’s the least nice room out of all. And we have stayed in plenty same priced and cheaper homestays. (photos were taken just before we checked out, hence the unmade bed)

Czysto wygodne łóżko łazienka mimo że mała to wygodnie się w niej bierze prysznic jest ciepła woda jest klimatyzacja. Lokalizacja super 2 kroki do fajnej plaży leżaki darmowe dobre śniadania na plaży przemiły personel pomocny polecam gorąco! Miałam pokój na 2 piętrze ze świetnym widokiem na ocean!

Całą dobę słychać fale oceanu jak ktoś jest wrażliwy na dźwięki w trakcie spania polecam pokoje niżej lub zatyczki do uszu. W łazience czasem czuć wodę ale można włączyć wiatrak cały czas

excellente adresse où séjourner à Madiha. grande chambre confortable au 1er étage, climatisation top, des étagères de rangement très pratiques. salle d'eau fonctionnelle. et un grand balcon donnant sur la plage, petit déjeuner très bon à la plage. accueil adorable du couple qui gère cet établissement.

emplacement exceptionnel! chambres en bas donc pas la plus belle vue sur la mer! mais petit dejeuner super en face de l eau! le 1er soir il y a eu lacher de bebes tortues sur la plage devant, le 2 eme soir une tortue est venue pondre, et sur la plage à droite tres facile de voir des tortues nager! bon petits restos autour( entre autre bob pas cher et sympa)! personnel tres serviable , discret mais si vous leur demander quelque chose ,ils vous trouverons la solution!

Die La Polena hat uns von Anfang an begeistert! Ein toller Ort, der einem sofort das Gefühl gibt, willkommen zu sein. Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön und der Aufenthalt war rundum angenehm.
Alles hat gestimmt – von der Atmosphäre bis zum Service. Man merkt, dass hier mit viel Herzblut und Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird.

Un paradiso. Camera a due passi dal mare, colazione in spiaggia. Lettini in dotazione. Colazione ottima. Spot per il surf di fronte alla struttura, snorkelling a due passi. Personale gentilissimo. Il proprietario parla bene Italiano.

Hotel s vlastní velmi čistou a udržovanou pláži. Jednoduchý ale čistý pokoj s výhledem do zahrady a na moře. Na zahradě byla houpací síť a plážová lehátka. Manažerka se evidentně stará o pořádek. Bohatá snídaně.

Cons:

“Vtipné” řešení pokoje, kde jde z pokoje vidět do celé koupelny včetně toalety. Asi by se hodilo dát tam žaluzie.

Calm Beach Front stay
Pros:

I stayed 2 times at la Polena. I liked the Room on the ground floor. It was prettier. Positive: Beach front, your hear the ocean. Spacious room and bathroom, fly net, bathroom, nice brekkie (could be healthier), clean!

Cons:

The second room had a few construction sites on the wall.
