I know the hotel will be upgraded and that's indeed what's needed
Fantastic location: right on the beach, next to beach bar Zandzeebar. Single room was comfortable and big enough for a solo traveller. Good breakfast in a wonderfully decorated diningroom with a great view. Very friendly staff.
I personally don’t really like the shared bathroom facilities. Good to have basin + hot & cold running water in the room, but I prefer also having my own shower & toilet in the room. There are enough toilets & showers: never had to wait, but it’s just personal preference.
The authenticity
The location and the people
We loved the location, completely surrounded by the dunes, it felt isolated while not actually being completely far from everything. There is actually a nice spot for food and drinks right on the beach nearby. We also loved the vibe and atmosphere of the main living area where the breakfast is also served, and the view from the room! Absolutely loved it all
Of course the best is to have a private bathroom but the shared bathrooms were super clean and there were plenty so it was never a big problem.
Very old outdated like 1960, nothing updated since then.

Our room was loud to a point that we could not get a decent night of sleep. Floor rattles every time someone walks in the hall way. No WIFI. Everything including coffee and tea came with an extra price. Room did not even have basics such as a water heater or WIFI. Dirty bathrooms. Room was not that clean. Did not have charging ports for mobile devices. Uncomfortable bed.

The Rates for the small space we got
Great staff, wonderful food, at the top of the dunes by the beach-so you must tolerate sand! Directly adjacent to the natural beauty of the island.
The beds, but we still slept well and they are going to remodel and upgrade after this season.
