Why would we ever pay $225 for a budget hotel stay?
Pros:

The staff really did their best to make me smile and you can tell that some consideration has been given to trying to give the place a bit of a 'boutique' feel even though it is a budget hotel. The location is in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Singapore (though you can take the MRT anywhere in Singapore for a couple dollars. The bed was comfortable.

Cons:

The prices in Singapore are obnoxious right now. 225/night as a "special" rate for a budget hotel that needs a bit of a refresh (the walls and floors are a bit damp and the furniture is run down) is absolutely ridiculous. No window (my room was "upgraded" to have a fake window). Place smells like onions even though they did their best to clean the place. I could go on but I know that the staff are doing their best and this is reflective of the insanity in the market right now, not this hotel per se. On the other hand, when after staying two nights I asked if they could give me a better deal to stay longer, I was told it was the best they could do. I found another place on Hong Kong Street for $150 that was far superior-still small, but much more elevated in terms of fittings/flow/decor, etc. Oh well.

Location was ok and in the fridge in the room was a free coke

Everything. I booked the first room on booking where it didnt say no window. Still I got a room without a window. The room was very small with a bed in it . It looked like a prison cel and I went straight down to the reception that I would not stay in that room. Yes sir that is what you booked and you pay a bit more because of the nice location. An absolute joke. After a discussion I got another room with a very small window towards the ceiling, so you couldnt look outside or open the window. In the room was a double bed, so for two people. I was alone and could hardly move in the room. This was my fifth time in Singapore and this hotel was by far the most horrible.

Comfortable Budget Hotel
Pros:

Friendly staff, comfortable room and very clean. Room had a kettle and biscuits which was greatly appreciated. Good location, close to the MRT and malls.

Cons:

The layout was a little strange upstairs, I think I was next to a storage area as there were lots of bags on the stairs and often people walking to and from it, which was a little unsettling. Also I couldn’t change the aircon on my room so it was a little hot for me to sleep.
