Lovely hosts - genuinely welcoming and helpful throughout. The onsite pub is a great touch. Beautiful sea views, a really nice pool (with towels provided), and the room was massive with toiletries which made a big difference. Breakfast was absolutely fine and did the job. Location walking distance to beach and restaurants. They also let me check out late, which was a lifesaver with a late flight - hugely appreciated!
Nothing major at all. If I’m being picky, a few hot options at breakfast would be great. And whilst technically a sea view, my particular room was largely obscured by trees - still beautiful, just not completely open.
The hotel has beautiful gardens right by the beach, which makes it super relaxing. There’s a beautiful walking track, right next to the hotel and the beach, perfect for a morning or evening stroll or jog. The beds were really comfortable, and I slept so well. The staff, especially the manager, Alex, was amazing and made sure my stay was perfect. She even helped me avoid getting overcharged by taxi drivers, which I really appreciated.
The swimming pool is clean and about shoulder-deep, which was great for me. Just a heads-up though, if you swim in the evening, you might hear some dogs barking nearby. They’re in an enclosed area, so no worries, but they do bark when someone walks past.
The rooms were spotless and air-conditioned, which made them really cozy. I’d definitely stay here again when I’m back.
Here are a few things that would make the hotel experience even better:
A microwave for guests – It would be great to have a microwave available at any time since the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant serving full meals. In São Tomé, the food portions are quite big, and I often couldn’t finish my meals. I had to take leftovers, but there was no way to warm them up because the restaurant was usually closed.
More breakfast options – It would be nice to have more variety beyond the standard continental breakfast. Maybe add eggs, sausages, bacon — or basically an option for a full English breakfast.
Receipts from the pub – It would really help if receipts could be provided for purchases at the pub, especially for guests who are there on business trips and need them for reimbursement or record-keeping.

Very nice, clean place with very nice and helpful people. I had a few logistical issues on the island in which the hotel helped me with swiftly and without surcharge! Bed was really comfy, everything worked in the room. The small pool and garden were lovely.
For the price category the breakfast was a bit too simple, and the coffee not so great🥲 Blackout curtains would be appreciated.

Although it is a boutique hotel and smaller than it's closest neighbors, I had a wonderful experience. The staff was very helpful throughout my stay and in accommodating a few changes in dates and reservations. Great breakfast and bar, quiet and very clean. Highly recommended.
Emoyeni Gardens is a peaceful and welcoming place just minutes from São Tomé town, set in a beautifully maintained tropical garden. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and offer sea views, though the balconies aren't set up as seating areas, which is a pity. What truly made my stay special was Alexandra, the hotel manager — warm, genuinely helpful, and incredibly effective. She gave great local tips, helped arrange a rental car, and stepped in when the agency tried to overcharge. She was also very flexible with my check-out time, which made my last day far more enjoyable. Breakfast is good, but only filter coffee is included — espresso or real Americano comes at an extra cost, which feels unnecessary. Overall, a heartfelt recommendation.
