It is such a pleasure to write this rating for one our all-time favorite places to stay, Camillas Hus.
The location is perfect, next to the Royal Palace grounds in a lovely part of Oslo.
Our junior suite room was large, tastefully decorated, with a beautiful ensuite bathroom complete with a large Munch print. On arriving, fresh flowers and a fruit tray awaited us in our room, and the fruit was refreshed each day.
Breakfasts were delicious, made to order and served in a lovely, sunny dining room.
But best of all were Mario and Jostein, the manager hosts, who were both absolutely delightful. They were attentive, interesting and helpful in every way. It was such a pleasure to get to know them.
This experience rates a 100 out of 100 for us. Thank you Mario, Jostein and Camillas Hus!
Wonderful small hotel in historic building near the beautiful palace park. This gem of a hotel is a fantastic place to stay in Oslo. The rooms are gorgeous, beautifully furnished and meticulously clean.
It's in a quiet neighborhood near embassies and steps from the verdant palace park.
The breakfast is delicious and the chef makes incredible poached eggs with salmon, to accompany your fresh juice, croissants, and homemade jams.
The young man who serves as guest concierge is one of the most helpful hotel staff I've ever met. Polite and well informed, he showed us how to get around on public transit and answered all our questions as first time visitors to Norway.
I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. There is an excellent open air restaurant a block away (get reservations - popular with locals and visitors!). All around A++
We visited Camilla Hus during our trip to Oslo. A beautiful gem in Oslo. Splendid service and big and nice rooms. The breakfast was very good and the dinner at the hotel restaurant was fantastic. It is centrally located near Oslo palace and park.
In my view, Camilla’s Hus is pretty much faultless. The tasteful and sympathetic restoration of a historic villa makes it a perfect place to relax. Every detail is thought of, from the lovely toiletries to the daily little fruit tray. Okay, so they don’t do English tea there and so the teabags weren’t really useable for a British cuppa and there was no milk for tea and coffee in the room. That’s a cultural difference rather than an oversight.
Breakfast is served at next door’s Park 29 restaurant through an agreement and I don’t think I’ve ever had such lavish attention given to the first meal of the day. Absolutely beautiful. Special mention must go to Mario, whose hospitality, local knowledge, friendliness and humour really made our stay extra special.
Tucked away at the top of Slottsparken, the hotel was very well placed to explore Oslo.
Overall, a stay of the highest possible quality - with just 7 rooms and an interesting past, this definitely isn’t your run-of-the-mill hotel.
My wife and I loved our stay at this elegant boutique hotel. Our Junior Suite was spacious and well decorated, and the location (across the street from the Royal Palace) cannot be beat. Oystein and Mario answered all of our questions and made our trip to Oslo perfect.
Per the last comment: If you are heat-sensitive (as I am) , would request a second floor room so that you can keep the windows open all night. We did and had no issues at all, even in the middle of Summer.
I was really looking forward to this stay after reading the reviews. They were nice to upgrade me from a single room to a double. The room was on the first floor so unable to keep windows open even though it was quite warm. The room was also dark, inadequate lighting. I asked about the restaurant and was not told it was closed for dinner on Sunday. Good neighborhood though don’t think I would choose it again not quite as cozy as I had hoped.
The staff is really nice and helpful, the hotel clean, cosy and made with love and the breakfast is just perfect. We felt like home and can recommend this special place a lot. Love it, there is really nothing we could complain about! Thanks for the great time.
A beautiful and historic wooden structure located just north of the Royal Palace and Slottsparken, Camillas Hus is located perfectly to explore Oslo with easy access to public transit and easy walking to City Center.
Along with the great location, the expert and friendly hospitality that Mario provides is second to none! He really helped expand our Oslo experience by providing recommendations for things to see within Oslo City Center, as well as unique and delicious dining.
Our suite at Camillus Hus was gorgeous and very comfortable, with heated floors in the bathroom and generous amenities throughout. The breakfast at 29 Park was delicious, including the best smoked salmon that we'd ever had.
When we return to Oslo, we'll definitely be booking Camillus Hus again - very highly recommended to enhance your Oslo experience.
My wife and I stayed in January 2023 for two nights. Mario, the manager, and the other staff were fantastic throughout. The hotel itself is an old style building that has recently been tastefully restored and decorated. The location is central but just far enough away from the main area. A short walk through the park brings you very much into the centre. I would have no hesitation in recommending Camillas Hus.
This was an excellent place to stay in Oslo. An easy 10 min walk through the royal palace gardens from the airport train stop and close to multiple bus and light rail lines. Customer service was superb and the room and bathroom were lovely. Highly recommend.
We stayed here on the last day of our two week vacation and were upgraded to the beautiful room shown in this pic. Mario is a five star host and the sit down breakfast was a plus after many buffets. Breakfast prepared to order and truly a five star experience! Mario, upgrade truly appreciated as it was a 25 yr anniversary of our meeting each other, as our 20th anniversary trip to Turkey and Greece was cancelled because of covid..
What a charming yet elegantly appointed boutique hotel! We found it super easy to get to from the airport, and upon immediate arrival in reception we were warmly greeted by name by August. He was professional, courteous and efficient in whisking us off to our junior suite. The establishment really does feel like our private and exquisite home for the five days we are staying. The restaurant, Park 29 (separate, yet cooperated with for breakfasts) is lovely and we had a late lunch that was perfect. Then unpacked and enjoyed the sumptuous bathtub and a nap in the super comfortable bed. The location is superb.... adjacent to the Royal Palace Gardens, and close to great shopping and dining. I highly recommend staying here.
This place was really Amazing and we will be sure to come back next time we are in Oslo. The interior of the room was extraordinary (we had an upgrade but I am sure the other rooms are great as well) and brings you back in time. Service was fantastic too, reception and check in all the way through to breakfast service. No complaints at all on anything - can't think of a better place to stay on Oslo
Having looked at other reviews, there probably isn’t much I can add about our two night stay that hasn’t been said, but having been treated with such warmth, care and hospitality, it would be churlish not to throw my hat into the ring as well. Go, just GO. Get online and book it right now. There is no way on earth that it could disappoint. It’s the sort of place that when you close the door and walk away, you want to turn right around and go back. Thank you so very much and hope to be back soon.
I wanted a small hotel in the middle of the city. I happened to find Camillas Hus. We were overwhelmed by the history of the first Norwegian feminist's home. Many antiques, comfortable bed, and the most attentive staff whom I have ever met. The location is great, safe and convenient. I definitely would stay there again.
A wonderful stay at Camillas Hus making our trip to Oslo truly memorable. Mario provided an excellent level of service to us, he made the stay first class. Having stayed in many hotels around the world, Mario stands out as the best hotel manager. Coupled with a lovely room and delicious breakfasts we couldn't fault our stay. Superb - thank you Mario!
