Welcoming, warm and comfortable.
Pros:

We arrived after a long tramp to be welcomed by John, one of the friendly owners, who showed us around and checked we had everything we needed. The room was perfect, simple and comfy, and we were too pooped to enjoy the garden but it looked like a gorgeous place for a coffee or a beer.

Cons:

We wished the bar was still open so we could have sat by the fire after our tramp, but that isn't a flaw of the hotel, just unlucky timing on our part!

Overall, a good stay!
Pros:

The room was cozy. Shared facilities were clean and if you feel uncomfortable walking through the bar, there is a back entrance that you can use once you complete the check in. Microwave, toaster and hot water is provided at the communal kitchen.

Cons:

The room walls were thin. As we had an early departure, our group of four had to check out in the wee hours of the morning. I guess my group generated some noise while moving our luggage to the back door, which caused some unhappiness amongst the other guests. Our bad.

Pros:

Close proximity to town. The room was comfortable and a heater was provided for warmth. The staff were friendly and welcoming when I arrived.

Cons:

There is shared bathroom facilities with only 2 showers & 2 toilets for at least 10 rooms. They were clean however & good pressure in tire shower. Also there was no restaurant food available. Apparently it's not available on Monday & Tuesdays. Tea & coffee were provided but only enough coffee & milk for 1 cup.

My stay was comfortable. However I did manage to mislay my key by leaving on top of the toilet cisti
Pros:

The Pioneer Hotel does not supply breakfast. I bought my own breakfast items with me.The hotel has what they describe as a "Breakfast Nook" which supplies crockery cutlery, a fridge for guests to store private foods, drinks, milk etc and hot water tea and coffee. Any extras must be supplied by guests. Having started previously I knew what I needed to bring with me.

Cons:

The eating area was within the bar area so conversations could be heard including the frequently used "F" word.

A colonial experience
Pros:

Everything was manageable but a tight squeeze in the room.

Shower and toilet facilities were good but shared with other guests.

Shared kitchenette facilities were very good with a modern fridge for the use of guests.

Cons:

The room was smaller than we expected. No room to open luggage except on the bed.

The blind was hung out from the window so anyone walking by could see right in to the room - I went and checked one evening - curtains would resolve this issue.

Extremely enjoyable
Pros:

Oozing charm. Exceptionally clean. Warm and comfortable. John and Michelle (proprietors) very nice people and it was fun mingling with the patrons.

Pros:

Rooms and facilities were clean and comfortable

Cons:

Being a hotel there were no beverages or food available until after 3.30. Was only able to access the pool table due to the entrance unlocked while cleaning in process. Booking into a hotel would have thought lunch and bar facilities would have been available to guests .
They would benefit from guest spend than driving business away to other establishments.
