Wonderful staff- I left some items after I checked out- and without requesting- they were packaged and mailed to me at my home! Thank you Meg, Judy and Andrea!
I stayed here 3 nights while I was attending a wedding in Manchester. The setting and service were just terrific. The reason I write this review is a wanted to "shout out" to Meg, Judy and the Barnstead team for packaging and sending some items home to me in California that I had left there! Such unexpected service I didn't even think to request- thank you so very much!
The overall feel of this place is most welcoming. The rooms are exceptionally clean - which is THE most important thing to us. Homemade breakfast each morning is delicious. Staff is absolutely amazing - friendly, polite, and helpful. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the pool is refreshing. An all around very relaxing stay.
I loved the "mini campus" feel of the inn. Our room was spacious and cleverly designed. I could walk 25 steps and be at the pool. I could walk in the other direction, across the parking lot, and be at the tavern, where I enjoyed a drink on the outside patio and watched the World Cup Game.
Parking is a little tight, but still workable.
The breakfasts were great and the location was perfect and charming.
Everything was great. The bathroom in the Hollister Room could be updated a bit.
I went for 3 nights with my friend from 4th grade! That's 58 years!
We had separate rooms, and they were both wonderful.....very calm and historical, no tschoskies (sp?) and thoughtfully curated.
The inn has a vibe and it took only a few hours to actually feel it!
Most fabulous 2 dogs ....King the Bernedoodle and Lucky. We LOVED them!
Breakfasts were lovely, made to order, and delish! There weren't many guests mid- week, so the last day we had a "hang" day and took over the living room and dining space! Needlepointing, laughing, wine, pizza, IPADS.....it was the BEST!
I rebooked for June before I left. The owners have put so much work into the gardens with roses and peonies, so I just have to go back!
The town of Manchester was way more than I expected....so many great restaurants and the best bookstore I have ever been to!
Just Do It!
Very friendly staff, cozy, welcoming feeling. We loved sitting by the fire for breakfast.
It was comfortable and offered enough amenities for the size of the property and duration of the stay.
The room was just a little small and tight, mattress a bit firm, but otherwise it was great.
Our stay was amazing and we couldn’t be more satisfied. The service was excellent from start to finish! The owners and staff are all exceptional, very professional, friendly, and make you feel like home. The cleanliness of the hotel really stood out; the rooms and common areas were spotless and well maintained.
The location is another big plus, making it very convenient to get around and close to key attractions, stores, restaurants etc. Overall, this place offers a great balance of comfort, quality service, and convenience. Can't wait to visit again! Thank you for this great accommodation!
Breakfast was a delicious home-cooked meal as a great start to the day.
There are so many reasons to stay at the Barnstead. We found this gem in 2019 and it quickly became our favorite getaway. The owners are second to none; Andrea and Pete are what other inn owners should aspire to be - they are welcoming and just down to earth good people. We have stayed at the inn nine times over the years. The rooms are nicely decorated and always impeccably clean. Any room you choose will not disappoint! We have seen the inn evolve into a truly beautiful Vermont getaway. The pub is very inviting and the food and drink are awesome, especially Pete’s chili!
I liked the comfortable rooms, the friendly staff, and the proximity to downtown. There were also friendly dogs roaming the property that would come hang with you! Breakfast was delicious!
Would have appreciated more late night options at the inn...things shut down completely at 9pm.
Fabulous location & easily accessible. Rooms were very clean and well maintained. Staff helpful & efficient but not warm which I think is driven by too many rules & a lack of flexibility. Examples include times you can enter the reception area, $25 charge if you log in your own Netflix, one hot breakfast choice. It was nice but not for me.
Your facilities/grounds are wonderful. The optional breakfast was a wonderful touch. We particularly liked the firepits and the meticulous way the entire grounds are kept.
I thought everything was perfect. We did not spend much time in our room but if we had the streaming of a few more channels on tv would be nice. Not necessary though ....
Recently stayed here for a wedding. It is an amazing property! The rooms are stunning and the staff is so kind and helpful. Good is delicious! It’s a quick drive to the main town and walking distance.
My Husband and I had a fantastic time at The Barnstead Inn. We went for a belated anniversary getaway. I had chosen it due to the reviews, photos and proximity to downtown Manchester. The owners (Andrea & Peter) and staff (Tracy, Jack, Uncle Joe, few others that we did not get their names) were all very welcoming and we felt very comfortable. Relaxed by the pool, firepits, and Uncle Joe hooked up my husband with the Little league game one night in the common room while I read. Breakfast was delish each day. The Tavern was great with beer and drink choices . The Inn dogs, Lucky and King were so well behaved and adorable. We look forward to returning , hopefully next year.
We’ve been to Manchester several times, but this was our first time staying at the Barnstead Inn. It was beautiful!! Close to restaurants and shops but far enough away that it was peaceful and quiet. The room was spacious and beautiful. We stayed in the Winter Room, which was renovated just a few years ago and was upscale farmhouse with convenient touches such as bathroom mirror with built in nightlight and defogger. You also get a full, homemade breakfast and on both days we were there it was absolutely delicious! The owners’ 2 friendly dogs were an added plus!!! If you like to ski or snowboard in the winter, there is another renovated building with several rooms and suites and large fire pits/seating on an oversized porch. We will definitely visit again!
