The most beautiful place-wonderful setting on a beautiful beach.Thankyou for upgrade to an ocean view room. Excellent service from the wonderful staff. Beautiful garden to sit in and light breakfast around the pool.
La ubicación esta muy cerca de la plaza principal,
Tiendas y mercado a 3 cuadras
loved the location .. we didnt' eat breakfast there but it looked great .. Thanks for the upgrade to an ocean/pool view.
The bed is not very comfortable and should have a mattress topper. The mattress smelled a bit of urine.
For my wife and me, La Paloma was the perfect place for beauty, relaxation, friendly people and excellent staff. Whether it is the fresh fruit and great coffee for breakfast, or the friendly responses to any question from the staff, or the incredibly beautiful grounds and awesome room ambiente, La Paloma stands out. But..beware of Paco's Margaritas, served from noon to 7. They are GOOD. Kyla, manager and overall knowledge keeper, was great. A smiling Monica at breakfast was a great way to start the day. Some music in the neighboring restaurant/bar late in the day was more often the not, quite pleasant. But it all stops pretty early. And I haven't mentioned the sunsets. They are NOT shabby! So as I type this looking at snow on the ground and bare trees, I ask myself, Why?
Wish i were a better writer, as la Paloma is perhaps the ideal place to relax, restore, and enjoy all that Melaque has to offer. the rooms are unique- in a VERY good way. The care and artistry which each room has in abundance, is exquisite. Lots of love - and artistic ability went into each room, as la Paloma slowly expanded to its current,, small size. The staff, all experienced, is incredibly able, and with constant (real) smiles. The Margaritas, by Paco, are the best in Melaque...and that is saying something! The hotel management (shout out to Kyla) is top notch. Can't wait to return
Simple continental breakfast with fresh fruit, fresh juices, coffee and toast
Also, reasonably priced eggs etc are availble and all with views of the ocean.
Nicer beds and pillows.
Clean beachfront property with lovely gardens
Great views. Quiet and relaxing
We booked a penthouse with a full kitchen living room and bedroom. We had a huge terrace. Decor is quite rustic and the kitchen was well equipped. Great staff and really comfy bed. Only negative comment is that WIFI in our suite was non existent. We tried several locations on the hotel grounds but still had trouble connecting to the internet. We mentioned it several times to the staff but they only replied that 'in Mexico the internet is not very good'. Problem was their WIFI, not the internet. We were finally able to connect because the restaurant next door had good WIFI reception and let us work off their system.
OMG ! After 40+ years of world travel I’ve found the most incredibly enjoyable town and hotel I could imagine for a Mexican vacation. La Paloma is situated perfectly, directly on a magnificent beach, within walking distance to restaurants and everything I need. The hotel offers a variety of lovely, comfortable, well equipped rooms, most with ocean views. The staff are more attentive and caring than I’ve ever experienced. The weather is consistently warm (25 to 30 Celsius), cloudless, with cooling evening breezes. November thru April are ideal times to visit, with April to November (excluding months closed to maintenance) open to families with children. The spacious ocean front pool and deck are wonderful year round. La Paloma provides everything I need while retaining the connection to the charm of a small Mexican town and the friendliness of the local people.
This is our twelfth year at La Paloma. We prebook our suite every year for the following year to ensure we get in. The hotel is beautiful and authentically Mexican with western conveniences. All rooms are uniquely designed and in our experience very comfortable. Both Spanish and English are spoken by most staff. All staff are friendly, helpful and make us feel welcome.
The hotel grounds are tropically lush and secure. The design makes socializing with other guests at the communal breakfast tables easy. A continental breakfast is provided in the room rate. More substantial breakfasts can be cooked to order. In the late afternoons guests gather to watch the sunset The hotel bar is open in the afternoons and early evenings
The adjoined towns of Melaque and San Patricio are small enough to walk quite easily. We prefer to bike to more distant places though so we rent bikes at the hotel. The bikes are well maintained, convenient and reasonably priced. Car parking is also available.
Quaint boutique hotel with a wonderful responsive staff. Garden is beautiful and views of ocean are spectacular, Made us feel like home. The area is very authentic Mexico compared to a resort town. Clean.
La Paloma was a wonderful place to stay! It is such a lovely setting right on the beach with a great pool directly in front. I like it here as it’s not a huge resort but a very comfortable, unique, friendly, clean place within close walking distance to the village. You can walk forever on the beach in front, it’s just beautiful! The beds were very comfortable and each room is unique and different. Each morning breakfast is served in front of the pool. A huge bonus. The staff is very friendly and helpful and always close by for anything you need. They make the stay there so comfortable. We look very much forward to returning to this oasis ☀️
La Paloma is small in its footprint but large on its hospitality. This boutique hotel is unique in that each room is slightly different and special. Kyla and her staff are incredible, they are helpful and friendly and make you feel very welcome. Go to La Paloma if you want a quiet get away where you can relax and enjoy the understated beauty of this place. It is the first time we have stayed and we have rebooked already.
First trip to this area of Mexico but not the last -- we've booked again for next year! When our cabs stopped at a fence with a gate and a small sign indicating we were at our destination, we looked around and laughed wondering, "Is this really it?" Then we were buzzed into the property and knew we found our paradise! Great location and well set up. Everyone was so welcoming and ready to make this the best vacation possible! All of our questions were answered, rooms were clean, comfortable, and unique. Our room had the kitchen area separated from the bedroom and bathroom. Great amount of space. Lovely patio with chairs and a view of the garden, pool, and ocean. It was spectacular! We chose no a/c so it was warm during the day with just the fans going. But coming from a cold climate, we enjoyed the warmth :)
The recommendations we received were all fantastic - from lunch spots, to supper, to fishing, to how to get around (bicycles) - we were provided exceptional assistance. Continental breakfasts (included) were a little different each day, always so fresh, and a great way to start. For a small charge, cooked to order options were also available, and delicious. We missed not having paddles boards or kayaks on site, however, a rental shop is close. Shout out to Kyla, Josue, Rolando, and Paco for exceeding our expectations!!
With a limited number of rooms available, guests tend to visit and form a small, supportive community. Lots of new friends now! Can't wait to stay here again...
Finding La Paloma Oceanfront Retreat isn't all that easy. You will walk down an unpaved road and search for a small sign located beside a large wooden gate. Ring the bell, wait for the buzz, and open the gate to a small garden paradise. You'll first be impressed by the manicured gardens which lead to the resort office. Kyla, your manager, is friendly and efficient. There are only 16 rooms in the whole resort and each room is different. Some rooms overlook the pool and the ocean, others face the interior gardens. Some rooms are quite large, with full kitchen facilities, while others are smaller. Everything is clean and tidy. The pool is a great place too meet other guests. However, the best time and place to meet other guests is at breakfast. People gather around outdoor tables to enjoy a bowl of fresh fruit, toast, juice, pancakes or eggs. Finish the meal off with a cup of coffee and discuss the upcoming day. We love the atmosphere that Kyla and her staff have created. We have visited La Paloma twice and have already booked our return visit for 2023.
We've stayed at La Paloma a number of times and plan to return again next winter. It's small, friendly, and the staff is always helpful. The location right on the beach is perfect. They are away from the noise and busyness of downtown Melaque, but close enough to walk to all the shopping and restaurants.
After a two year travel hiatus due to the world wide pandemic, this was our first visit during Santa Semana. The hotel allows children during the month of April and there were times when it was filled with Mexican families with small children enjoying the pool with games. Other days, the hotel was deserted as the same families travelled to check out other beaches. The beach activity was interesting to watch and the umbrellas spanned the entire bay filled with families. Our room (#14) offered an excellent viewing point to take in all of the beach activities and the vendors selling their wares. Kyla and her staff attended to all of our requests ranging from massage and pedicure appointments to ordering shrimp to be delivered and restaurant directions…ALL delivered with a smile. Kyla also arranged our private transportation to Puerto Vallarta for our flight home. If you are looking for a family “base” for Easter activities or just a get away to experience a different time in Mexico, I would highly recommend LaPaloma as the best hotel choice in Melaque.
From the moment you walk in through the gate into the gorgeous and well kept gardens you know that you have arrived someplace special. The view from the pool and common areas is magnificent! Some of the units have ocean views too! Pelicans and frigate birds soar above and if you are lucky you just may see the iguana sunning himself on the wall. The rooms are cleaned everyday and we were so happy with the added efforts to keep us safe from Covid. When we were there for 3 weeks in January and February 2022 all the staff wore masks which demonstrated their commitment to safety. I would have to say that the staff is friendly and helpful, if you needed something they would drop what they were doing and give you their full attention. Kyla, the Hotel Manager answered our many questions with kindness and patience. She recommended good restaurants and helped us find take out food, called for a doctor's appointment several times when I needed to be seen, called cabs and the list goes on. In the mornings, people gather in the common areas adjacent to the pool for coffee, tea, toast, fresh fruit and the best ever smoothies/juices made by Kyla. What a treat! If you don't want to cook breakfast they offer a number of options that were delicious and reasonably priced. This was our fourth year at La Paloma and we have so enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to next year!
Absolutely terrible experience. Made to feel as if they were doing us a favor by allowing us to stay there. Every time we saw the Proprietor we were given the hairy eyeball and made to feel unwelcome to say the least. The “complementary breakfast” was inedible and the coffee tasted days old. We certainly were not made to feel like paying guests. Will not return, and would not recommend at all.
