Our stay at Mahi Mahi Beach Hotel was exceptional from start to finish.
The biggest highlight was the staff. Every member of the team was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. Their kindness and professionalism made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The location is simply amazing. Situated right by the beach, the hotel offers stunning views and easy access to the ocean, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing getaway.
The food exceeded all expectations. Every meal was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were equally impressive, prepared with great care and packed with flavour. Whether enjoying breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks by the beach, every experience was outstanding.

We have just returned from our 5 night stay at Mahi Mahi and what a beautiful place this is. The location is perfect for that peaceful break and the hotel itself we couldn’t fault. The staff went above and beyond every time, the food was some of the best we had eaten in Zanzibar and the facilities were just perfect. The bed was comfortable and the cleaner sprayed our room every night to prevent any bites from the mosquitoes. We would highly recommend this hotel to anybody who is after a quiet, peaceful break.

This was exactly what we needed – a quiet, secluded beach on the east coast of Zanzibar. The hotel is truly off the beaten path, with not a soul around. Absolute peace and quiet.

The property is small – just 16 rooms – all right on the first line. There's a pool and a restaurant, and honestly, that's all you need. The rooms are simple but have everything for a beach holiday: a comfortable bed, a fridge for champagne, and a balcony with chairs to watch the sunset.

Restaurant prices are in US dollars but very reasonable: main courses $15–20, cocktails $7. The food is excellent. The specialty here is octopus – you can lie on a sun lounger and watch the locals hunt for them right in front of you. Incredibly fresh.

If you're looking for total seclusion and relaxation, this place is ideal. That said, when we wanted a bit more energy, it wasn't far to the younger, livelier Paje Beach with its bars and parties.

Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.

We had the best week in Zanzibar, largely thanks to Margaret and her wonderful team at Mahi Mahi. We loved that the hotel was so secluded and peaceful, that we regularly received visits from the monkeys in the small forest behind the hotel, the delicious food that was served, and that everything was possible to ensure we had the best stay.
We would recommend this lovely little place to anyone looking for a relaxing and tranquil holiday in Zanzibar 🫶🏼

I give it the highest rating and I'd like to give it even more.
The hotel is perfect, very romantic, staff is perfect, kind and very smiling, restaurant is incredible, amazing food, many choices and the place is literally a paradise.
Accommodation is amazing, spacious and it has a very stunning view.
They also have a family of monkeys living behind and it’s very funny to watch them.
They take care of every detail.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary, and they made sure everything was perfect.
We went during sea weed season, but it didn't bother us at all; they remove the weed in front of the hotel so we can pass through.
Not to mention that watching the tide is not only beautiful but also very interesting. We can walk for a few minutes and see the sandbanks with a beautiful green and blue sea, one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
A place to return to. Magical!
