Disappointing Experience at Dana Rayhaan and No Support from Expedia

I traveled with my family from Qatar to Dammam on November 20. While on the road, I booked two rooms at Dana Rayhaan through Expedia. When we arrived, the reception informed us that the booking was mistakenly set for November 26–27 instead of November 20–21.

I immediately paid cash for that night and contacted Expedia the same evening. They confirmed they would handle the issue within 24–48 hours. During this waiting period, I stayed in the same hotel for three nights, paying for each night separately through cash, Agoda, and Expedia, spending over $1,200 USD with the hotel.

Despite my immediate complaint — before the original date even arrived — and despite being an active paying guest in the same hotel, neither the hotel nor Expedia allowed a basic date change for an unused night.

I did not ask for a refund.
I only asked to modify the date of a night I never used.

After days of waiting, both the hotel and Expedia responded by saying the booking was “non-refundable and non-changeable” due to “strict policies.” Policies exist to prevent abuse, not to punish honest guests who are already staying and paying at the hotel.

If a hotel guest spending over $1,200 USD is denied a simple modification, then:
• Policies are prioritized over customer loyalty
• Mistakes are treated as an opportunity to profit
• Guests’ trust has no value

I am sharing this experience so travelers can be aware. I still hope management will review this case fairly. A hotel is not judged by its building, but by how it supports its guests when they truly need assistance.

This is my first time, i liked the place the service is good new hotel. The reception staff so polite and at the breakfast as well they were so friendly.

This property in Dammam is one of the best. All staffs are very friendly. The hospitality is superb. This property is very new. Most if the things like super market, mall are very close to this property.
The restaurant is very beautiful, well designed and decorated. You will get lots of option to choose from.

Our stay at Dana Rayhaan by Rotana was exceptional! We spent 4 nights in rooms 1516 and 1510, both of which were impeccably clean and offered stunning sea views that made our trip unforgettable. The daily breakfast at Elements restaurant was a highlight, featuring a wide variety of tasty options. The pool area was pleasant and well-maintained, providing a great spot to unwind.
The check-in was quite slow, especially during the busy Eid holiday time, which was a bit of a drawback.
The hotel's location was very convenient, with easy access to Dammam Corniche (5–10 mins. by Uber), the airport (30 mins.), and Al-Khobar (20 mins.).
Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, excellent amenities, and a prime location!

First I always stay in this hotel For the past Year Until Something happened today I asked for a late check out 1pm and The person in friend desk was so happy to help. I received A call from a lady at 10am asking me to leave the room Even though it wasn’t the check out time. I was at work and I found my stuff outside my room by 11:30am. I will never Go to this hotel again after what happened.

Tonight for the first time I tried the restaurant Elements at the Dana Rayhaan by Rotana. I met Sala Uddin who took care of me throughout the whole experience. The customer service was outstanding and the food was exactly what I was looking for. I was so pleased with the service I received from this business. Sala Uddin went above and beyond to help me find what I wanted

Nice and clean stay

Extremely happy with the stay at Dana rayyan by rotana - Dammam. The gentleman Mr.Qusai helped with the check-in procedures real quick and got me the best sea view room. The breakfast was also good. Thank you

Rotana is always the best in the gulf regions.. Staff members are very friendly and willing to help. Rooms are wide and very tidy. They have some sea view rooms. Awesome services against reasonable fees. I loved my stay in Dana Rayhan as well as Rotana Corniche in Khobar. Rotana is always my first choice in the gulf region.
