Pros:

Außergewöhnliches Hotel. Unser Cottage war sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Naturpool war klasse. Die Aussicht, die Umgebung, die Ruhe es war ein Traum. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Beautiful views from the chalets, comfortable communal pool area and well-appointed rooms.

Cons:

We checked in on New Year’s Day so it’s understandable that staff were wanting to go home. However, the reception, restaurant, bar and all other areas besides the pool close at 5pm. Luckily we arrived at 16:30 so we were able to check in but couldn’t use the bar or restaurant.

Dinner hugely disappointing
Pros:

We have returned to Rijks every time we visited Tulbagh but will find other accommodation next time. The room, bathroom and bed remain comfortable as nothing has changed in twenty years. What has changed is that the dinner menu has been drastically reduced in choice and the meal we were served was a huge disappointment. Food was overcooked and lacked interesting tastes. Of the two desserts one was not available and the melktert was of such bad quality that we both left 90% on our plates. The staff are young and willing but have not been properly trained and so the service is equivalent to a poor quality coffee shop. Our red wine was delivered, already opened in a white wine cooler. No wonder there was only one other couple dining in. On our second night we had a wonderful meal with excellent service at Chef&Co in the town.

Ein unvergesslicher Aufenthalt mit traumhafter Aussicht auf kleinem aber feinem Weingut
Pros:

Das Zimmer war sehr gross und von dem jeweiligen Terrassen hat man einen atemberaubenden Blick.
Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Sie haben uns auch auf die Weinlese (nachts ab 21 Uhr) aufmerksam gemacht.
Das Essen mit diesem Ausblick bleibt unvergesslich. Der Pinotage ist fantastisch.
Der Naturpool ist ebenfalls sehr schön.

Cons:

Weinig faciliteiten, slecht wifi ontvangst, restaurant stelt niet veel voor …wat op menu stond was vaak niet beschikbaar. Houding personeel was wat apathisch.

Peaceful stay in the middle of the vine.

Wat een idyllisch verblijf ! Als je hier aankomt voel je alleen maar rust en blijheid ! Mooie kamer met heerlijke badkamer , en het uitzicht als je in ochtend de deur open doet adembenemend! Een heerlijke wandeling door de wijnvelden en zwemmen in het natuurlijke zwembad ! Rust rust
Wijnproeverij aan te raden en het heerlijke ontbijt , op het terras ! Heel vriendelijke meisjes die je bedienen ! Het dorp Tulbagh ook erg knus !

Cons:

Helaas was het restaurant gesloten en dat was niet vermeld !

They would have received excellent except for the food issue.
Staff were lovely. RIKJS wines are also excellent.

Cons:

They would have received excellent but unfortunately they were not doing evening meals, which was a shame. They start from 01 Feb. As we were in Tulbagh on a Monday and Tuesday a lot of the other winery s and restaurants were also closed.
Only place was the Hotel in town, which was nice.

Fantastische plek, die alleen maar beter wordt de komende jaren.
Pros:

Locatie, algemene indruk van luxe, fantastische wijnen, heerlijk zwembad. De aandacht van de mensen geeft de indruk dat Rijk's alleen maar beter gaat worden.

Cons:

Tanine in het water werd wel verklaard, maar zorgt samen met een lekke afvoer zorgt het ervoor dat de voegen en kitnaden er erg vies uit zien. Ook was de Wifi erg matig, daardoor ook geen TV ontvangst. Het zou hier om een nieuwe installatie gaan overigens die (nog) niet helemaal goed ingesteld was.
Een eigen restaurant zou het verblijf compleet maken.

Wine, beauty and tranquillity
Pros:

The accommodation setting, absolutely stunning surrounded by mountains and vineyards. The wine tasting was divine, one of the better cheese boards, our hostess knew her wines and was an interesting exchange. The wine is brilliant; the white wines are like drinking honey. The reds, oh my! as smooth as butter. Our cottage was homey and comfortable with a large comfy bed. Our view overlooked the dam and spring water pool. Easy walk around the accommodation with stunning views, be sure to wear a hat. The vineyard is beautifully maintained. I could not fault this accommodation. Reception booked our Dinner at Manley wine estate. We had supper and breakfast in Tulbagh at The Olive Terrace Bistro at the Tulbagh Hotel, and we have to give them 10/10 for service and food, it was mouthwatering.

Pros:

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt und waren rundum begeistert. Das Personal war außergewöhnlich freundlich und professionell – man fühlt sich sofort willkommen. Der Pool ist wunderschön und lädt zum Entspannen ein, besonders nach Spaziergängen durch die traumhaften Weinberge. Der Wein vor Ort ist hervorragend und das Frühstück einfach top – frisch, lecker und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön, sauber und komfortabel, der Service ließ keine Wünsche offen. Ein perfekter Ort zum Abschalten und Genießen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!
