Environment
Driving 45min on a gravel road and not good for the kind of car am driving. Off road cars should be used when going there
Nestled in the Grootfonteinberg, this boutique hotel offers the perfect retreat from busy city life with a 360 degree view of the beautiful lush rainforest and the mountain. There is no need to leave the property for sightseeing - one can enjoy a different hiking trail each day followed by a wonderful meal at one of the restaurants at the property. There is also a spa available for pamper and relaxation. Chilly evenings are filled with a welcoming warm fireplace in every room with wood provided daily. The staff are very friendly and helpful and attended to anything we required.
Certain sections of the 3km tar road are in desperate need of fixing, not just filling the holes after rain seasons. It would really improve the driving experience to the hotel.
Location is magical, surrounded by mountains, forests and mist. Food was excellent and staff were very friendly.
The beds were super comfortable!
I did not like the bathroom and showers.
The people - you will always remember how you were made to feel. Everyone at the establishment was committed to making guests’ life good. Jefferey, Ta Vusi, Danisile and everyone else made our stay feel great!!
I liked everything really
I liked the welcome. Made us feel warm and special. Everything was organised. We were explained where everything was and we loved the pool room in the bar. We enjoyed that you didn't have to pay a deposit for a pool ball or the sticks. It was readily available. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The red wine per glass was very good quality, normally the house wine is awful.
I didn't like that you couldn't order from a normal menu and that you had to choose from what was on the menu for dinner. The food was great though. I just didn't like the absence of choice. Or maybe I didn't want a full cooked meal and wanted a sandwich. Also, found the rooms very dark, which made them feel a bit dirty to me. I know it is supposed to be a calming factor, but sometimes you want to see where your stuff in the room is before you relax.
This is one of the most beautifully placed country hotels I have ever been to and the rooms are amazing . The staff couldn’t help more. A truly remarkable experience.
Be warned the access road is awful in places and barely fair the rest of the way
We booked the penthouse. The house was very spacious, had a heater and heated blankets in the bedrooms.
The property was great. The only issue is the gravel road leading to the previous but we were made aware of it, so we were not surprised by it’s condition.
The area is serene
Old and not well maintained
The views were amazing. Its a quiet place where you can go to relax. Compliments to the chef, the menus were different everyday and the food was very delicious. We also hiked, the trail is well maintained.
The pool should heated.
The wallks around the place, the pool, the food was amazing.. The view breath taking
We weren't allowed to go near the water fall not sure why which was one of our tick box for choosing the destination
we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the week where we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. The team really went out of their way with the special dinner setting for our anniversary day, the breakfast packs for our day trip to the kruger park and the overall friendliness of all staff - to name a few, Hanru, Jeffery, Selby, Mavis and the rest of the team. The variety of the foods for dinner and breakfast was good and tasty.
the resort is well kept and offers a nice tranquil and quiet environment to rest and rejuvenate oneself.
cannot give any negative feedback here.
