We had a lovely room very smart modern bathroom.
We had a bit of a wait at breakfast but the staff were amazing. They couldn't be more apologetic and looked after us very well. We would definitely stay there again.
We would have liked some decaf tea and coffee in the room and at breakfast.

Extremely helpful and accommodating staff - we had an issue at our previous hotel with the heat, explained it to the staff at this hotel and they were exceptional, showing me my room and how cool it was before taking a payment.

Quiet rooms in the back annexe far from the busy, noisy pub
Great inconvence because they emptied my debit Card charging me the full price of our 2 rooms at 08:15 the day of check-in when through Booking my reservation was to pay on arrival in the evening. My companion was going to pay, not me . I was most annoyed. They denied it had been them, that it was a mistake by Booking.Com!!!

Nice airy bedroom with large comfortable bed in quiet location. Breakfast and evening meals were good although options were a little limited as I am wheat intolerant. Good WiFi connection. Staff friendly and helpful.
No gluten free bread and plug in sink didn’t allow sink to drain properly unless completely removed.

I have stayed at the White Hart Hotel in Hook a number of times in the past year. Service is usually good, so this was an unpleasant surprise. See below for the reasons.
Cold Comfort from a Cold Reception

On arrival at reception, I asked Jess whether the heating was on in the room and whether a spare heater was available. Being warm and comfortable is important to me, and on previous visits staff have always helped with this promptly. However, I was told there was no heater available and was asked to check the room myself.
The heating appeared to be switched on but was not working, and the radiator was cold despite the unusually chilly weather. After waiting around 20 minutes and seeking assistance from a manager - Gary, the issue remained unresolved. Although I appreciated the complimentary glass of juice while I waited, I felt there was little urgency or concern shown regarding the problem.
As I no longer felt comfortable staying, I requested a refund and was prepared to make the long journey home instead. The manager, Gary, refused, stating that my reason was "not good enough". I was surprised that a guest's comfort was not considered sufficient grounds for a refund, leaving me out of pocket.
I left feeling saddened and disappointed. Based on this experience, I would not wish to return.
Note: This experience was in stark contrast to a stay in mid-April, when Erin provided excellent - 10 out of 10 customer service. She was welcoming, efficient, helpful and kind, ensured the heating was on, offered a spare heater, and helped make the room comfortable. She also recommended a new menu item, which encouraged me to dine at the hotel. That experience reflected the standard of service I had come to expect.
