Hotel Gandhara

I apologize for the lengthy feedback, but I couldn’t sum up the long, frightening night in just two sentences.
I had one of the worst experiences I ever had of staying in a hotel. On the first night of my stay, between 3 AM to 6 AM, the hotel had three power cuts. I arrived at the reception in total darkness the first time the electricity went out, and to my astonishment, the main gate was shut and no one was present. The night-shift manager apparently locked us in and left the hotel, in the event of a medical emergency, we would had to smash the door to escape the hotel. I was so worried that I was a minute away from calling the cops cause I couldn’t understand what should I do, it's completely dark, and there was no one in the hotel to help but then I saw two male staff taking their own sweet time to come to the reception. Even after my pleas, The staff took 30 minutes to switch to the backup and by that time I had lost my sleep and also my room was then filled with mosquitoes. The second time the power cut happened, the staff took another 20 minutes to switch to backup. Shocking to me, every time there was a power cut I would come to the reception to inform the staff and the staff would shout at me "Why am I coming to the reception, can't you just stay in your room?”. That staff was rude and aggressive towards me. Mind you, My wife and I are in a new city and it’s nighttime, with this staff arguing with me, I was concerned about our safety. The interesting part of this incident is that the staff was telling me that power cuts are normal and I should accept this and not make a fuss out of it. I was paying Rs.3000 per night and this is the service I get. In my 15 years of travelling, I have stayed from Rs.300 per night to Rs.10000 per night but I have never faced a power-cut issue in any of these hotels, even if there was a power cut,the backup switch was activated immediately without the guest even being aware of it.

Standard of cleanliness are maintained at an acceptable level.

Except for the above point, I like nothing

The whole campus is like garbage can. Nobody to listen to your woes .. No phone line working .. No tea, No room service, Dirty pool, broken chairs...Outsiders storming inside the pool area. Unsafe, unhygienic and filthy
Never ever go to this hotel

Initially, we made some small mistakes in our booking. When we tried to contact the property, we received no response, even after messaging them. The photos on Booking.com looked good, but when we arrived at night, we couldn't see much. The only things visible were house lizards and other insects outside, along with dirty, sandy rooms and broken doors. In the morning, I went to the pool with my kids, but it was filled with insect droppings, leaves, and small insects, indicating poor maintenance. We ordered tea and breakfast, but were told it wasn't available, so we had to go out for all three meals. One of the staff members in the morning was literally drunk. We paid nearly 10,000 rupees, which was not worth it at all. I would suggest that Booking.com and other booking apps delist this hotel. I didn't expect such poor service, where I wasn't treated like a valued customer and felt scammed. I didn't expect this type of experience from Booking.com.

The controlling of the AC did not work properlybut that was not a big deal as I could just switch it on and off on demand. A bit small room with oldish furniture.

There are no good points apart from the location. They charged more than 3k per night, but there are no proper facilities available in the room. Everything is too old or doesn't work. The room was not very clean. Not at all value for money. The fridge, TV and the phone in our room didn't work. After complaining, the fridge was replaced as we needed to store prasadam from the temple. The fridge from the other room which was given to us seems to be very old but worked.

Improvement in facilities provided particularly the toilet fittings is necessary considering the cost
