We like absolutely everything from where it was to how peaceful and quiet the area was, the food wow! the staff were so kind and thoughtful 😊 polite and professional.. the Room was well presented, clean and comfy. And Greg in the mornings had such a wonderful attitude it really made our mornings. Can't wait to stay there again..
We had to leave to come home .
Breakfast was amazing... and evening meal was delicious, especially the oysters. Drive to York was easy enough, but the parking in Coppergate car park was nearly £16! Having said that, I visited the fantastic York Minster and also the Van Gogh experience in St. Mary's church. The meandering around York was so enjoyable, and then back to Tickled Trout for delicious evening meal.
Side of bed seems to slope, but still managed a good sleep.
Lovely property, lots of character. Stayed in Swale room which was very comfortable.
Could do with a few little improvements. Lick of paint and tightening up the toilet seat.
Staff were excellent very helpful and chatty.

It was a piece of heaven in the English countryside. Lydia and Jane were both wonderful and friendly hosts. The rooms were great and beds comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were plentiful and tasty.

Sehr schönes Hotel in ruhiger Lage. Stilvoll eingerichtete Zimmer. Leckeres Essen, überwiegend Fischspeisen. Die Miesmuscheln sind sehr zu empfehlen.
Man bekommt gute Ausflugstipps morgens vom netten Frühstückspersonal.
Die Duschwand ist nicht dicht.

What an incredible find! I was staying for a wedding at a venue nearby, and I'm trying to find an excuse to stay again.
The room was absolutely stunning, with a massive shower and bath and even my own little balcony overlooking the garden.
The room really was beautiful, and I really liked the vibe.
I had dinner on the first night; oysters, venison and sticky toffee pudding. Each dish was exquisite, and I was really well looked after. Breakfast was lovely, with a good selection of cooked breakfasts as well as a continental range.
The highlight for me really was the stunning bathroom; I can't remember which room I stayed in sadly, but the bath was truly huge and luxurious, and that itself was worth the money for me!
This wouldn't stop me coming back, but it was a little loud on the Friday with the garden playing music and I could smell the smoke from the fires in the garden; I only mention as others may be sensitive to smells and noise.
Bedroom was comfortable and clean.Dinner was superb.
We were not offered any toast for breakfast and my husband chose the continental meats etc but there were no plates and was told to use a bowl?
The room was very comfortable with an excellent en suite bathroom with bath and a brilliant walk in shower. The room lacked an easy chair but the bed was very comfortable. The food at dinner and breakfast was exceptional.
Stairs to the bedrooms were steep and narrow.

Very pleased with our stay and experience, it doesn't have a pub-accommodation vibe but more like a small boutique hotel, very nicely decorated, the toiletries were of a high standard, the welcome port & water in the room were a nice touch, thank you.
The restaurant is amazing, my husband and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary and treated ourselves to fish platters which were delicious.
The breakfast was great (despite no smoked salmon that morning due to some issues with the provider), the service was fabulous, a very special approach, highly recommended!

breakfast was very good, cooked to order each morning by Greg who was both friendly and efficient.
The facilities in the room were very basic. Very limited drawer and wardrobe space, no chair or stool,no power point near the mirror and the television was almost impossible to watch due to it's position.

The room was west facing and by night time it was absolutely roasting hot, no fan in the room. Also the bed wasn't comfortable, very squashy, I think a new mattress is needed
