Noisy Room
Pros:

Easy check in and room ok. Breakfast good choice.

Cons:

Room 103, which was sited next to lift had noise from movement of lift all night. Spoke to Manager about this in morning, and itvwas clear that the site was aware of this. Response was that extra insulation had been installed. We'll if so, it was not doing its job.

Pros:

Lovely & clean
Comfortable bed and pillows
Good food and choice at breakfast

Cons:

Was quite surprised to find the limited amount of coffee, milk etc on the tea tray and no biscuits !!
Was more than appalled that even though the sign on the wall said heating was controlled by the dial on the radiator, an hour after turning it on it was still completely cold. When I went to tell the girl on reception there was another couple there saying they had mo heating, and were told as we were that she would re boot it so there was heating ???
The following morning when we got up at 8 am again there was no heating and it was too cold in the room to even have a shower😞
When checking out we told this to the receptionist to be told it goes off early in the morning about 5
am so I’m guessing no one has heating in their room when they get up.
I thought after reading the sign in the room about how to control the temperature then we could do this ourself and I find it shocking that when paying over £100 a night the heating is only turned on when you ask and then only for a short time. This is such a shame as it would have been a lovely stay.

Has put us off ever staying in a Holiday Inn ever again.
Pros:

Could be beautiful if they cleaned it up a bit. Breakfast was good.

Cons:

We arrived and found the lounge areas where you had coffee were very dirty. It was like this the whole stay with food on the floor and stains on the tables. Reception staff(apart from one) did not smile or make you feel welcome. It was freezing in our room as heating not on, even though the weather was atrocious. Had to ask for a heater. York a bus ride away NOT walking distance as stated.

Nice breakfast. Decent room
Pros:

Bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was good.

Cons:

Very noisy from 5qm in morning as right above reception (noise of taxis, giluets and staff talking and shouting).
Bedroom was basic but could do with update as bit tired (coffee stains on walls, marks and chipped/dinted walls).

The venue met my needs for an overnight stop and a trip to explore York.
Pros:

Room was as described, breakfast meal was good, lots of choice of hot and cold dishes.
Location was excellent on the outskirts of York. A good bus service into York with a bus stop a short distance from the hotel. York itself is quite expensive to park a vehicle so this was a good option.
The reception staff were pleasant and helpful.

Cons:

I had to work out how to get the TV to work, the aerial lead had become disconnected. So an easy fix.
