Holiday Inn York by IHG

The room could have been cleaned better needed a really good hoover and a lot of dust. Old telephone no longer working, standing lamp not working,painted poorly like in a rush. Bathroom though nice was small so the door is not suffice for it should have a folding door. Can sit fittings of the sink underneath and the seal is not done correctly around the sink underneath the sideboard making it smell damp. I didn't complain didn't feel the need as only there a few days, I had seen cleaners in the morning working hard but maybe 228 I stayed in had not been thoroughly so prior to arrival.
I was also asked if wanted to upgrade to add breakfast, I said I hadn't added as no gluten free options and told their was so for the steep price on first morning when I asked for gluten free porridge I was told didn't have gluten free options which I pointed out was on the menu so they did go and source it from the kitchen and did every morning. But there was not much option in the gluten free area and Sunday morning was one piece of bread with the expire date of day before. My mum did not enjoy breakfast any morning and would complain to me it was cold.
The lifts need looking at the grills cleaning as the doors are slow to closing. I work in estates for the NHS as a Decontamination Manager so everything I've commented on cleanliness of roll and lift and paintwork is within my day to day job role.
But in all I enjoyed my stay I just think there's a few tweaks needed and I can't fault the staff who were the best part of the hotel as well as the beautiful kept grounds. I will stay again despite my lengthy response as Im planning to come back later in the year.

Kamers iets gedateerd.
We hadden deze kamer geboekt ivm de airco. Het is momenteel in de uk ontzettend warm.
De airco schakelde zichzelf iedere keer uit. Ontzettend vervelend en de temperatuur in de kamer liep enorm op dus het slapen was vreselijk!! We moesten snachts iedere keer opstaan om die airco aan te zetten.

Didn't get the bed made but did get clean towels.

WiFi was patchy in our room but I think this was exceptional.

The size of the shower room was ridiculous: much too small, especially for a family to use it. You couldn’t even walk into it properly around the door.

Also, no free guest WiFi in the rooms to use.

The pillows were really hard, more like sand bags! But we managed. Also the bathroom was very small!

Ensuite was rather cramped. Parts of the room were a bit tired e.g. lock on bathroom door came off. Decor bit scuffed. All okay though.

The room was too warm, the air conditioning was not enough plus it was setup to stop working after a certain period of time. The parking was full and very dark.

Breakfast price

Rooms very small and dated. You couldn’t close the door in the bathroom without standing in between the shower and the toilet due to it being that small. Some of the staff were rude/dismissive.

The ensuite toilet bowlwas dirty with skid marks when I checked in. It wasn't properly washed and the housekeeping not great.
The lift got stuck with a person and poor awareness/response
The crockery esp mugs at the buffet were not always available and some really chipped
The coffee machines at breakfast were not working well...no milk, no chocolate but the staff weren't looking into it.
Car park definitely needs a clean
