Basic hotel in the center of town
Pros:

Great place with basic habitaciones and a nice pub underneath. Friendly staff and quick help. No need for all fancy stuff, but perfect for a good stay in Avila. Next time I will stay my whole time in this hotel. Obviously the more expensive hotels give more service and fancy rooms, but after all I slept here as good as any other place.
Park your car outside the city center or on the nothern side. The town is not that big and why pay a lot of money for nothing?

Just to sleep and to leave your luggage
Pros:

Great location, good price, clean. The hotel is not modern, but everything is there. Food is not included, but there is a bar/dinner attached to the hotel. Eggs and bacon are fantastic! If you are looking for high attention from the hotel service, this is not the place for you :) You are on your own. Nobody sits at the receptionist desk. The lady in the bar is the receptionist. If you looking for a low budget place where you can sleep, take a shower and to leave your luggage, this is the place for you. No luxuries, but it is clean and quiet.

A rather dated hotel
Pros:

I stayed in this hotel over 20 years ago had had good memories of it, so on a trip to Avila I decided to stay here again. In the end, what I got for the money paid was not as good as what I managed to obtain from other hotels on this trip.

On arrival the hotel was closed at the front and had to be accessed through the adjacent bar. The check in process was disorganised and very lengthy, as the barman who did the check in did not seem to know what he was doing. He also questioned the information given on the lengthy check in form, making me feel like he was very suspicious. Looking over his shoulder I realised we were the only ones staying in the hotel.

The rooms were very spartan indeed, which is very much how cheaper places in Spain are. But the cost of the room should have meant something more in terms of comfort. The door of the bathroom in one of the rooms would not close, and kept swinging open. The shower itself was good as long as you managed to get to use it before the hot water ran out.

All in all, not a very good stay. The lift to the first floor does not go all the way to the first floor, and means you still have to carry your bags up some stairs. Not advised at all for people with mobility problems. In fact, probably not recommended at all. The hotel is definitely stuck in a time warp.

Just to sleep
Pros:

One of the few good things that this hotel has, it´s the location. Is very central, within the walls of the town. The entrance is trough the coffee shop. The waiter/receptionist was very unfriendly (A good afternoon it would had made a difference). The hotel is very dark, the rooms has no view, and the beds are not what you can call a very comfortable place to sleep. Although everything was very clean, and the room was spacious. It was decorated with old and very simple furniture. It´s that kind of place where you arrive just to spend the night and leave in the next day. I found it expensive, for what I had. An extra point for the free Wi-Fi available in the room and the coffee shop.
