Pros:

Evening meal was great.

Cons:

It’s a shame the water main system broke so there was no hot water or breakfast. We also had to change hotels, not their fault. The windows aren’t double glazed and the bin men came early and were noisy. If full always worth booking a table for dinner as alot of walk in’s use the pub

Great Location and Staff, Terrible main bar ambiance and lack of staff to clean the tables.
Pros:

The Staff are always helpful and very pleasant especially the breakfast team. This is a great location, and the rooms are warm and cosy.

Cons:

During the evening it was clear the bar staff were overwhelmed, Glasses and dirty plates everywhere, slow service and just a shambles. As a resident, it was not very comfortable at all.
No warm fires and terrible “disco” music blasting throughout the venue, (your music needs urgent attention). This music is not in keeping with a “country Inn and a feeling of chaos paramount.
Maintenance is lacking now in most rooms, Showers do not work properly (the head selection), they leak on the floor and some of the room doors are damaged by water. My room had a block of wood to keep the window open to air the room. It would be simple to fix most issues.

Accommodation excellent and good value for money.
Pros:

The coffee was cold but the poached egg was good.
Evening meal disappointing. Tender stem broccoli almost too hard to cut. Potatoes a poor flavour and texture. Salmon fillet good.
Black berry and apple crumble very processed tasting with too much almond essence in the custard.
Espresso coffee very good.

Nice hotel with friendly staff - recommend paying extra for the larger rooms in the main building.
Pros:

The pub is in a great location on the green. The staff were really friendly and helpful although a bit stretched particularly on the second day.
Evening meal was lovely, with a good amount of variety on the menu.

Cons:

On a previous visit we stayed in the main building in a very spacious room. This time, we were in the annexe in a much smaller room on the ground floor, which unfortunately smelt of damp. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly before we arrived, although this was rectified promptly once we brought it to the attention of the staff.
Unfortunately, due to staff shortages, we were unable to get breakfast at the venue - which was a shame as on our previous stay we had enjoyed this. However there are a couple of nice coffee shops nearby.

Ok but poor sleep due to old mattress and poor quality pillows
Cons:

Really hard bed that dipped in the middle. The mattress clearly needs changing, poor quality pillows
