Everything was so modern and thoughtfully designed.

Cons:

The futon couch for our kids to sleep on was very uncomfortable (very hard to sleep on). I didn’t really realize we weren’t booking 4 beds, that wasn’t clear in the listing

Pros:

The location is hard to beat. It is right in the busy and vibrant Gion area and also very convenient to other place by using buses

Pros:

The hotel’s location was excellent — right in Gion, directly across from a temple, surrounded by many shops and restaurants that truly brought the Kyoto atmosphere to life. It was very close to the train station, which made our trip to Osaka easy, and also near a bus stop for convenient transport. The hotel was within walking distance of the famous Hanamikoji Street and Pontocho area.

The room was fully traditional Japanese style, and everything was thoughtfully prepared for a comfortable stay. It was very clean with beautiful decor.

The bread-making machine was really interesting for the kids, and we woke up in the morning to the wonderful smell of freshly baked homemade bread.

The reception area was very cozy and beautifully designed in a traditional Japanese style. The afternoon matcha service was lovely. Having a laundry in the hotel was also extremely helpful and convenient.

Cons:

We stayed there for two nights. On the first morning, the fresh bread was excellent, but the breakfast options were mostly traditional Japanese and didn’t really suit our taste. The breakfast on the second day was entirely Japanese style, and the flavors were not suitable for us or our kids. It might be better if they could offer a more balanced variety of breakfast options to suit different preferences.

Pros:

Staff were extremely helpful. Room was comfortable and felt like home. Great guides for exploring the city. Although we didn't go on the free tours I thought that they were great offerings.

Nice property, would stay again if the rooms had bigger beds and more space
Pros:

Location in the heart of Gion, busy road but very quiet inside. Hotel has a cool, modern design. Good value for money for Kyoto. Decent shower and small kitchen with fridge.

Cons:

In our room the beds were tiny, normally when we book a twin we get 2 large beds. Also half the room is taken up with a fixed table and benches, you could fit 6 ppl here but the room only has 2 beds. It left very little free space. The breakfasts are just OK. We stayed 3 nights, first night we had the bread which was fun but the toppings were a bit odd especially the egg which wasn’t very nice. Second night we had the sushi balls which weren’t as bad as they looked. Then back to the bread which we didn’t bother with second time. One other issue - the hotel refused to help with a restaurant reservation that could only be done by phone. Other hotels in Japan have always been happy to help with reservations.

Pros:

The room was massive and very comfortable with an amazing bath that I still miss! It was a great way to rest between our adventures and everything was very clean. We really enjoyed our stay here, the location is amazing with so many options for food and shopping around. Very charming hotel.
