Excelsior Hotel Review
I can think of a lot of negative things with this hotel.
We booked in this hotel because we had seen it advertised as a kid-friendly hotel with a lot of amenities for kids. We had stayed in one of their premier queen room because we wanted a bigger room, and it is. The room has 2 double beds and we paid for 2 additional single beds and it is still spacious. But that is I think the only positive thing. Our room is located at the 11th floor at the farthest end corner of the hallway. The room is a connecting room, which wasn't mentioned to us during booking. A very basic room with TV (not smart), a good working air conditioning system (right for the room size), desk, sofa, safe and a fridge. Toilet and bath has a hair dryer and complete toiletries, although I was looking for a bath robe but there was none. Also, their slippers were just a little thicker than paper.
Here are the problems we encountered:
1. We wanted to clarify things before our check-in date, both of their landlines and mobile numbers listed as contact numbers were unreachable, one is always busy and the other one, no one is answering. I was calling them within regular office hours. I ended up contacting their fb messenger, good thing they replied.
2. Around 7:45 pm, we tried calling the front desk and housekeeping to request a bed rail as we have a toddler but no one is answering to both. So we still needed to go down the lobby to request it. The staff in the lobby said it is because he is the only one there and occupied thus he wasn't able to answer; but we have been calling for about 15mins already. Waiting time for the bed rail is fair though.
3. As stated above, we didn't know our room was connecting. One of the guests in the connecting room was talking and singing so loud and literally screaming. This was around 11:15 pm and was going around for 30-45mins. I tried calling the front desk, the operator and the concierge, hoping to get through but no one is answering. Again, I needed to go down just to request the hotel staff to ask the other room to keep their voices down.
And because of that, we learned that their sound proofing is really bad. Also, I don't think their connecting door is a double door which most of the hotels with connecting rooms that I've stayed to have.
4. I don't know how they do their check-out process, but for a guest with no room charges, check-out is very slow. It took them AT LEAST 20 mins. Also, some guests who checked out after me was able to leave first before me and this was my last straw. I was patient the whole time even if they had a lot of cons already.
Some other things to know that is not really a problem for us but you might want to know also:
1. The play area in the swimming pool needs renovation. A lot of the equipment / attractions (I don't know what to call it) are not working and anti-slip tapes are already peeling.
2. The allowed and not allowed swim wears were posted (ex: basketball shorts and cotton t-shirts are not allowed) but we saw a lot wearing those. Their pool and the whole area is clean though.
3. Most of the equipment in the courtyard are for 8-12 years old, but it is clean and working as of this review.
4. Breakfast buffet is decent. It is included in our room rates but we also asked their rate. Right now they have a promo for around 800 per adult but their regular price is almost double that amount. For 800 now, menu is okay for the price. Plain and fried rice, fish, veggies, noodles, 4 meats, cereals, egg, pancakes, salad, fruits, 2 desserts, coffee and juices. But if for their regular price, I don't think it is worth it.
5. Location is great as there were a lot of convenience store, drugstore and restaurants nearby which is walking distance. It has nice interiors as well.
Worst and major problem: Calling them, whether from outside call or in-house call. Calling them is like calling your internet service provider in the Philippines (very hard to reach 😅). They really lack manpower. I don't know if the management is saving up but it really sacrificed the service. There is a time during our stay that their concierge also serves as their guard / receptionist in the courtyard.
Pros: Staff were hard to reach but very friendly and nice. You can also bring outside food. I just don't know if there's limit.
The staff
Restricted access
Decided to give ourselves and our Dad a staycation after an arduous 2months in and out of the hospital.
We were truly pleasantly surprised with the rooms! We ended up staying up to 3nights from our initial booking of just 1night.
I could definitely compare the rooms with the 4/5star hotels we usually stay in. There were a lot of activities for kids in the upper floor. That was fun.
A few staff really stood out like Evand and Chef Wilson. Chef Wilson would remember how you like your egg cooked the next day even though we weren't the only guests at the restaurant. Evand was the gem. He provided GENUINE quality customer service. He stood out and the Excelsior is lucky to have him.
As for the "but"... a few improvements could be made such as the PWD bathroom (see photo). Perhaps relocate the towel bar? So my Dad relied heavily on the grabrail due to weak knees... upon turning to exit the shower, he hit his head. Coincidentally, I took a shower myself and hit my head too. The placement is just - wrong. With that, kindly review your other PWD "friendly" features as well.
Second, confirmation was provided by the reservation agent that the rooms we had booked was a connecting room and included a PWD friendly bathroom. We found out upon arrival (after 3:00pm) that neither a connecting room or a room with a PWD bathroom was available. Apparently, they had informed us of the unavailability on the day of our arrival exactly at 3:00pm, the time of check-in. That was later sorted out after I discussed with the front desk about how imperative it was to have a handicap accessible bathroom.
Until then, thank you for considering the above suggestions and again, thank you Chef Wilson and Evand --- see you next time!
the place is a good place to stay, really quiet and relaxing. we stayed at room 815 on 8th floor. however i’m a little bit disappointed because the playground was close i am with my newphew sadly he wasn’t able to play. I would like to commend the staffs who are friendly particularly jaynard from concierge. he was so kind and very friendly. we had amazing stay because of the place and staff.
Proximity to the mall, the staff
The additional charges on the playground if you didbt book directly on the hotel’s website
No list of spa services and prices
The list of charges for the extra amenities are a bit distasteful
The amenities, the playground/activities for kids, the food
The smell of the room. It smells damp.
it was a great experience! especially the buffet— the foods they've prepared really good. i love how the staffs accommodate everyone. shout to Lester's Team!
Room was big, clean linens, comfy bed, good parking, so many activities that kids can enjoy like the outdoor playground, explorcation package which comes with a fee. The swimming pool is also big and clean with jaccuzzi. Buffet breakfast was decent enough with wide selection of dishes.
Check in and check out process takes too long. Only two kinds of fruits in the buffet. Some food in Buffet dinner were not delicious. Guests need to pay extra to avail of the kiddie activities. Shower rooms in the the pool area are not well-maintained.
It was nice to meet friendly staff like Gab and Kat. Very accommodating:) I also enjoyed the hotel. Thanks so much for the experience, Excelsior!
We attended the food tasting as part of our wedding package, which we arranged with the assistance of Miss Khizhia. The service provided was excellent, and we extend our gratitude to Miss Kat and Sir Renz. We also wish to thank Chef Joven for the delicious food, particularly the main course, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you again for your wonderful service! We are very much looking forward to our reception at Excelsior Hotel.
The Buffet was great! Myra Kat Jopay Gab and Barnell served us well. They were very polite, prompt and accomodation. Food was delicious. Compliments to the chef
We booked at this hotel last July14-16,2025.. We booked at this hotel for my 2 granddaughters in time for their school vacation.. What I liked at this hotel they have courtyard rides & attractions which my 2 granddaughters really enjoyed the most.❤️🧡💗 They have also a indoor play area to keep the kids have an active play… Their swimming pool is kid friendly because they have fountains and very attractive to kids.. We booked the 2 bedroom suite good for 4 pax & 2 kids with free breakfast The kids 4 below are the only ones free for breakfast which I think is not reasonable because for 5 years above its 50% off more or less 400 pesos . My 2 granddaughters really enjoyed our stay here but the downside if it rains they cannot fully enjoy the facilities. I think they should improve on how to contact them on the phone because it took me days for them to call me back. Their 2 bedroom suite is very spacious & clean but we were expecting there will be a bathtub coz my grandkids love to have a bubble bath..
check the shower because it was clogging. need a convenience store inside
We dined at Buffet Gourmand yesterday for breakfast and were very satisfied, especially with the excellent service provided by Mr. Renz. The food was delightful, but what truly stood out was Mr. Renz’s attentiveness and friendliness he was incredibly cute, by the way! We hope to be served by him again when we return.
Thanks for the good service, especially the staff of gourman the food is good, for Mr.Kyle ur so cute thanks for the quality of service.

This is the 1st time we had a very horrible experience with our hotel stay. Upon checking out, we were told that there's a missing bath/floor mat in our room (Executive Premier Room 602) and we will be charged 584 pesos. We informed them that the mat wasn't even there when we checked-in. Lesson learned on our end since we didn't bother to report it when we settled in our room and just brushed it off as a small inconvenience. Little did we know that it will be a BIG issue upon check out. The housekeeping staff/room attendant Arnel insisted that it was there when we checked in because they have a "perfect" check list before turning the room to their guests. The non existent "missing" bath mat will be charged to him if we don't settle. 583 pesos for a filthy bath floor mat!
We also learned that this isn't the first time that this hotel had a "MISSING" towel issue. We read other reviews of guests who had a similar experience with us. So, does the hotel management really check and do something about this "missing towel" scam??
Another issue, as HONEST guests we paid for the extra persons who will be staying in the room. When we reserved the rooms, i specifically told them the exact number of persons who will be staying in the rooms. I was under the impression that these were all noted and the extra room amenities like bath towels, toiletries will be readily available once we check-in but None. We still had to request for these even though they were already informed beforehand.
To be fair, the courtyard playground is good and kids will really enjoy (even adults). This is the only redeeming factor of this hotel.
