We had a nice, clean, and quiet room. The owner was very friendly and had a nice collection of antiques in the office and around the property. Excellent location and within walking distance to most everything in town. Will definitely stay here again if we happen to be in the Meeker area.
Nice and quiet. The room was simple, good size and clean.
Grocery store was next door and the town is so smalI you can walk everywhere. I would definitely stay there again.
Yesterday I stayed and it was what I payed for. The motel was nice and clean, nothing too bad. Many people were taking our parking space and music was blasting. AC was either warm or freezing, very loud AC. Overall experience was good. 4 stars.
It was okay. We love down and out rooms, so it has that. It's also has king size beds. It's got that quaint 1970's feel (which we also like). I can't give a good rating on cleanliness because our fridge wasn't turned on and old left overs was left in it....the smell was not good. We set the food outside, called the front desk. She apologized, offered to move us, but we had already unpacked. We chose to stay, but a discount since we couldn't use the fridge would have been nice. This motel is set up for one person, or at least only 1 CPAP or 1 phone charger. My side of the bed had an outlet toward the foot of the bed that didn't work. Also didn't have a night stand. We travel with extension cords (because of hotels like this), but this would not work for some people. The parking lot is also not set up for full size F150's. It was empty when we were there but our back end stuck out into the drive. I really don't want to give this place a bad review but I think they need to up their game a bit.
I loved the quiet setting of this inn. There were trees and mountain views and I soptted some wildlife. This area is known for its elk hunting.
Great bed, great bathroom, spacious, good tv, coffee in room. Town is a short drive for dinner and exploring. Excellent wifi. Friendly host at check-in and check-out. I'll be back.
This was a nice little inn in a quiet, nice town called Meeker. Check in was OK. It was not full but everyone seemed to be in the same corner and we couldn’t park in front of our room because it said No Parking. The room was nice and an adequate size. We had a king bed which was comfortable but there was no bedside table on one side and I need this to put a drink of water on at night. The fridge was decent and all other amenities were fine. It was possible to walk into town but we drove which was also easy.
Clean! King size bed! Amazing shower!! Coffee rocked. Check in was easy and fast!
Paved parking g for drive up parking… good for motorcycles!!!!
Fresh water and juice provided at check in!
Staff was very friendly and gelful. Walking g distance to restaurants!!
The room was quiet with a small refrigerator/ microwave and a heater/air conditioner. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. Bed was comfortable and the establishment was pleasant. We enjoyed our stay.
There's nothing much special about White River Inn. We had trouble right away with the TV. Eventually, the one staff person moved us to another room. That worked out fine, partly because there was no one next to us. As a result it was quiet, at least when the door was closed. I think the road was extra busy with trucks because of the mud slide closure on I-70 at Glenwood Springs. So it wasn't a normal situation.
The little room they had for getting ice was really shabby. And the ice was in chunks that you had to try to break up with a scoop. But I'd consider staying there again, if I couldn't stay in a larger town with more alternative restaurants.
We stayed two nights at the White River Inn. This motel has been recently renovated. Our room was spacious, immaculate, and had REALLY comfy beds and pillows. The owners are friendly. I'd recommend this property to anyone who is traveling without pets, and who like the convenience of being able to park in front of their room. The grounds are well-maintained, with lots of flowers, spruce threes, and places to sit outdoors.
My wife and I traveled to meeker for the 4th of July, upon arrival we were greeted by the most kind and helpful owner I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He gave us plenty of tips on where to go eat, what to do and see (on top of the festivities the town was holding). The room was very tidy and had super comfortable bedding. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. All around made for such an amazing and lovely weekend! Absolutely recommend and we can’t wait to go back!
I travel to Meeker 4-6 times a year, and this is my go to place every time. Great customer service. Owner LD very knowledgeable and accommodating to what I want to plan .Rooms are always clean pleasant and quiet, which is important to me. No neighbors taking luggage down the hallways -drive right up to your door and easy unloading. LOVE IT!!!!! Hope to return in September for the Sheep Dog Trials. Thanks again for a very pleasant stay.
Immediately after checking in, and trying to work through confusion about incorrect information on the website about pets, the owner clearly was embarrassed and began cussing, yelling, and making sexist comments to me. He even admitted that the confusion with pets is a common problem that keeps happening (probably due to the website having wrong information). I should have read the reviews, there is a clear pattern with his childish behavior. As guest we all put a lot of trust in the lodge we choose to stay at, and hope that it is safe and a great place for us and our families. I would never take my chances at this place again. Wanting to avoid ever seeing this man again, we desperately searched for availability near by and ended up staying at the Inn near circle park, and wow what a gem. The staff was so kind, the lobby and rooms are so cute and rustic, and the free hot breakfast was incredible. Terrible experience with White River Inn, but so glad to have found our new go to place, near circle park in Meeker.
Came to Meeker for the 4th of July, stayed at the White River Inn. Owner was most accomodating & staff was wonderful & very helpful. Both rooms and grounds were very clean, will stay here again in the future.
The site and room was clean. The owner called to coordinate a head of time to let me know where the key to get into my room was going to be stashed. I didn't have any problems finding it or following the directions that the owner gave in finding where my room was going to be where he wasn't sure if he was going to be here due to struggles finding additional help. Overall it was a great experience.
DON'T STAY HERE!!! (READ ON)
Holiday weekend, I got 2 kids and a dog. We tried to call Blue Spruce Inn (WONDERFUL HOTEL) but they were all booked up. (BECAUSE BLUE SPRUCE INN IS AMAZING)
- We book with White River Inn... Pets Allowed. We called to double check. All is good.
- We drive 6 hours to Meeker. Get to White River Inn.
- We are told "NO PETS ALLOWED" -- We suggest a Kennel. -- He says "No" and curses at my wife, child and myself.
- We get run off the premises by L.D. and the police called on us to evict us.
- After reading into further reviews, he has pulled a GUN on some customers and he has turned away SERVICE ANIMALS.
If you don't want to take the risk of having a GUN pulled on you and your family. THEN DON'T STAY HERE! This guy is a loose canon.
DON'T STAY HERE!!!
I stayed here after a short backpacking trip and the Inn was clean and comfortable. The person that checked me in was friendly and informative and did a good job explaining where basic things were located in town. After staying the night, I left the next morning and forgot my phone in the room. The manager at the Inn mailed my phone to me, which was so greatly appreciated. He went out of his way to make sure my property was returned to me and then wouldn’t even let me pay him for his services. You should definitely consider staying here if you are in town. They will go above and beyond to make sure you are taken of!
We are two young families with small children who came to stay in Meeker for the 4th of July holiday. While the White River Inn is well-kept, the front desk staff professional, and the rooms were adequate and clean, I cannot say the same for the owner (L.D. Grove), and his language, as we were met with a torrent of profanity within the first few sentences of his interaction with us. This experience prompted us to look into past google reviews and we were shocked to learn this owner has a habit of threatening guests with a gun (for real. I’m not kidding!) and immediately evicting them from their booked room. While thankfully he relied on the police instead of a gun in our case, we were abruptly evicted without any refund.
At the time of our booking, the White River Inn website stated in all caps, ‘PETS ALLOWED’, which is why we chose this establishment, as both families have a dog and Meeker is a very outdoorsy, dog-friendly town so we felt comfortable bringing our pets along. When we arrived, we took the pups past the lobby for a walk and the front desk attendant told us kindly but firmly that there is only one room in the motel where pets are allowed and it was booked. We apologized profusely, referred her to the website pet statement as the source of our confusion. Apparently, lower on the page, the statement “limited availability—please call” was not in reference to their booking process in general, but to to the pet-friendly space. We again apologized and asked if it was possible to put down a damage deposit, as we were far from home on a fully-booked holiday weekend with no alternative options. She said that she would connect with the owner and he would reach out to us.
The owner called my sister-in-law a few minutes later and immediately started yelling at and berating her, accusing her of intentionally trying to sneak dogs in to his motel. She was extremely apologetic and attempted to explain it was a honest misunderstanding. He proceeded to call her a f***-ing liar and told her to put her man on the phone. The verbal abuse continued for several minutes. Through all this, she never raised her voice nor deviated from calling him “Sir” and she had the presence of mind to start recording, as the course of the conversation is truly something hard to believe. We were floored.
I do not fault this owner for enforcing the policies of his establishment, confusing as they may have been. He has the right refuse service and we had made assumptions—we should have clarified at the time of booking. We were in the wrong. I even get that on paper, families with young children and dogs may not be considered desirable guests, though we work hard to insure our pets are well—trained, our kids are not disruptive to those around us, and the spaces we stay in are treated with respect. But I cannot excuse his communication approach, which is the most unprofessional, belligerent, ineffective, and downright nasty that I have ever experienced.
At one point, the owner mentioned a kennel, and we promptly offered to try and place the dogs there for the weekend, but he abruptly pivoted and said he did not want us staying at all. After reducing my sister-in-law to tears because we had nowhere to stay with three children under 5, he relented and said things could be sorted out further the next day. In the morning we were met with 2 cops, sent to escort us off the premises.
In the end, things worked out okay, as the Blue Spruce Inn had some cancellations for the weekend and they truly allow pets. The whole situation was made a bit better as Blue Spruce is a newer establishment that backs to a beautiful park for the kiddos (along with fishing for the dads), is an easy 2 block walk to the town square and all the festivities, hot breakfast is included, and there was a hot tub and nice lobby area down the hall for the grownups to gather (with kid monitors) so the kids could fall asleep in peace and we didn’t all have to do lights out at 8pm.
Blue Spruce’s very sweet front desk person treated two distraught families with compassion and understanding and went above and beyond to help us get a roof over our heads and salvage the family time we were striving for when we planned this trip. We are incredibly grateful and look forward to staying with them in the future.
Based on the many positive reviews, it seems often people have an acceptable stay at the White River Inn, as long as they are fortunate enough to avoid an interaction with management—or perhaps as long as you have a man on hand to talk for you, things go a bit smoother. However, the multiple gun threat reviews lead me to doubt it. Now knowing this business owner literally troubleshoots issues with a gun, I’m grateful we were able to depart with our families safely, without further escalation.
L.D., as a service to future families who might also misconstrue the policy as written and incur your wrath, I would urge that the wording on your website be changed to “Our establishment includes one pet-friendly room available for booking. Please call for availability information regarding this space.”
We are so grateful for the support we’ve received from so many Meeker locals after this experience. My sister-in-law’s family has deep roots in this community and it is a comfort to know our story is being shared widely and may save others from enduring such treatment.
I made reservations here because someone recommended It. He said it was a step up from Hotel Six so I was not expecting much. What a pleasant surprise when I drove up. The hotel and grounds are well maintained. The young lady at the desk was pleasant, informative and I walked away with the feeling she really cared about her customers. when I unlocked my room for the first time I was surprised again. Clean, fresh, modern.
It happened to be the first night of the Stanley cup finals and I wanted to watch it so I was disappointed when the TV did not work, No worries, I call to the front desk and that same lady that checked me in arrived with a solution. Too me that displays the true culture of any business. They take ownership of problems and in finding a solution.
THANKS
I abandoned my hunt camp Sun. 10/25 because it was on it's way to snowing about two feet and getting extremely cold. Spoke with Gina on the phone, super nice & courteous and she was able to get me in her last room. In checking in the heater didn't work and it was going to be well below zero that night. She tried really hard to get working, and when it didn't found a solution to get me into a suite not normally available - really saved me, thank you!! Ended up staying another night, clean, comfortable, great wi-fi - excellent value. Thank you again Gina! Jack D. - Centennial, CO
