The room was clean and had everything we needed but is very dated and a bit shabby. Desperately needs refurbishment which it appears the bar and restaurant has recently undergone . Served our needs fine as we were visiting family nearby. Had dinner one night and the food was excellent. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly.
Bedrooms need updating and refurbishment
Nice size room, very well equipped. Great shower. Very helpful staff. Great carvery dinner.
Shower curtain needed to prevent flooding the bathroom
Always friendly and helpful staff. Good food and use the Beach Arms often for overnight stay.
Relatively convenient location wise
We stayed in room 3
Wall next to my bed was covered in mould spores which had a distinctive smell
We had a fellow guest (not English) tapping on our window at 20.03 in some distress as he couldn’t check in We assume he managed to get in as there was a foreign car outside the next morning but it was distressing not being able to help at the time
It was totally impossible to find how to switch on the bedside lights Hence we were unable to use them
Shredded net curtain at the window
The breakfast was awful, the only eggs available were steamed eggs !!! Yoke as hard as nails !! A chef not capable or willing to knock up scrambled, fried or poached eggs shouldn't be in the kitchen !!! I was gob smacked with the staffs attitude to my request ..l have worked in hotels for years and never come across steamed eggs before perhaps it is a new thing but never seen it anywhere else I have stayed.
Worst breakfast I've had in years !! Cold bacon sausage hash browns baked beans.
No cereal, yogurts pastries or fruit juices even had to pay extra for hot drinks.
Breakfast was a good start- a little greasy but not unpleasant! Good range of options
Little freasy
Friendly staff
Over the two days the hospitality tray provided one biscuit (not each and not per day). Silver fish and Woodlice in the ensuite. Door in ensuite rotting away. No proper shower basin or curtain. In fact, more like a wet room but with wooden flooring! No working fan in ensuite. The bedroom had a fan but no air-conditioning.
My wife and I are both light sleepers so I had enquired in advance about possible noise from the nearby railway, I was told that nobody had ever complained about it. But we were woken by it constantly. We closed the windows despite the heatwave but the trains were still very loud. It was also very difficult to close the windows as they were rotting. On the second night there appeared to be a lunatic in the bedroom next door. He arrived after midnight and he banged the furniture every few minutes then swore very loudly. This Bang, Bang, Swear carried on about once every ten minutes for several hours. From what we heard, he appeared to leave at 5.30am but came back about an hour later. Over the two nights my wife and I each had about two hours sleep per night.
On Sunday having had a carvery at lunchtime we just wanted a sandwich or baguette or roll to eat in the evening but as it was Sunday we were told this could not be done so I had to drive to the local convenience store. On Saturday evening we invited a guest to eat with us in the pub. I asked for Saturday evening’s meal and drinks to be put on a tab so we could pay all in one go but I was told by a member of staff who knew we were staying, that they did not do tabs. Yet, later that evening, I read that the meals could have been added to our room bill. The food for all three of us was overcooked so we decided not to have another course. I ordered a Rekorderlig non-alcoholic cider. This cost £5. I ordered the same on Sunday evening and was asked for £6.80. When I pointed out that the drink on the previous evening was £5, the server appeared to look at a list and then said it was £5 after all.
Staff were brilliant, super helpful. Rooms good, quite large & very clean, great shower! Breakfast was very good, but could have been improved with maybe fruit & yoghurt available?
We ate in their dining room Friday evening & food was excellent & extremely good value - wine list was budget friemdly too with good wine at sensible prices
Nothing not to like really!
Excellent value, great staff working in challenging conditions, namely the excessive heat. Spacious comfortable rooom and good food.
Location suited us as a stopover on the way to the West Country.
Food was good, but was told about the app.
The bar closing at 10pm when staying at the hotel
Very courteous staff and good choice of food.
I went to the bar to get drinks to take back to the room at 10.05pm but the bar and reception areas were locked and inaccessible.
Good location and friendly welcome. Excellent car parking
Several items on menus incl breakfast were not available
Comfortable bed
Bit of a wait to be served on check in.
