Pros:

This is an excellent midrange hotel with all the basics right and a competent staff. The location is the outstanding feature - right on the College Road, with one of the best stretches of local food and shops we’ve enjoyed in India. One block away is the sprawling book market, could spend hours looking for bargains. We liked the peaceful College Square pool and garden close by, memories of the opening scenes in Life of Pi. It’s an easy walk to the metro, and we also walked to the flower market and took a ferry across the river for lunch at the train station.

Basic but.very pleasant and comfortable. Nice staff.

Breakfast was fine. A little more variety might be good.

Just missed having z place to relax over a drink in the evenings, either on the premises or a local place.

Really pleased with our accommodation itself and how central it was.
Pros:

Breakfast was ok. Basic, edible. Sufficient.
Staff good. Beds very comfortable.

Cons:

Just a pity that there was no bar facility, a place to unwind together when we would come back in the evenings.
Ourside the hotel, very dirty with lots of stray dogs. Very offputting.

May be ok with group of friends if you get this property in cheap rates
Pros:

My early check in request was entertained and my family got a small room to fresh up and take some rest before they had decided to move ahead with their day tour. They followed up regularly on the call to check on me when we are going to come and all.

Cons:

The location is nice since it is near to Howrah however the property looks shady and all the rooms are at 2nd and 3rd floor wth no facility of lifts. My early check in request was entertained however 20% of the token money was taken in advance over the call to make the booking final. We didn't like the rooms as they were very small, suffocating and a foul smell was coming out of bathroom. The vibes of the property was not good as well. My experience was bad and I ended up losing that token amount as penalty since it was the last minute cancellation. We found another property nearby.

Pros:

The room was very clean with clean sheets, comfortable mattress, toiletry supplies and tea and coffee. Ample hot water. Nice balcony. The manager was very professional. Free breakfast appreciated.

The room was very small. The entrance is about 20m down a small side-street.

Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis
Pros:

Gutes Mittelklasse-Hotel mit einem guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Liegt an der lebhaften College Street. Also echtes indisches Grossstadt-Erlebnis. Das Zimmer war nicht riesig, aber zweckmässig und sauber. Der Balkon war ein grosses Plus. Freundliches Personal. Frühstück wird nach vorheriger Bestellung aufs Zimmer serviert. Ich war zufrieden.

Cons:

Dass einige Gäste im Gang geraucht haben, fand ich nicht so toll. Aber wahrscheinlich sind die unterdessen auch abgereist. 😀

Okay for budget stay
Pros:

The doorman was lovely!

Cons:

Unfortunately we decided to cut our stay here short. If you’re looking for a budget stay and can put up with discomfort, it’s a fine option. We were here for a wedding and needed working hot water, more space, reliability electricity. The floors were also dirty, sheet cleanliness also questionable.
