Pros:

Everything was clearly explained. I appreciated a member of staff walking me to the room and showing me where everything was. The room was spacious and spotless. The breakfast was great. The view to the river topped it off.

Only thing that was a pity was that us and a few people noticed cobwebs on the ceiling of the breakfast room above the cereal and in reception but these are small things . Everything else was great

The breakfast was lovely.

The WiFi does not work which means the TV does not work - we couldn’t even get live tv, I don’t know why you need WiFi for normal tv, they did say we could hotspot from our phone! We just wanted to watch a bit of TV to wind down and absolutely nothing.

We stayed a few years ago and you can see the value of the staying at this hotel has gone down. A nothing guest commented that its’s only worth an absolute max of £90 a night, including breakfast - which was the hotels saving grace. All the staff were lovely though, the owners just need to invest in the infrastructure a bit more - stronger WiFi with additional extender pods. You can’t even phone or email the hotel because of it - we could only contact through booking.com

Brief stay over. Suited our needs.
Pros:

Well maintained, clean and up to date- (it is a very old building)
Lovely cosy welcoming bar.
Lovely welcome at breakfast and tasty local food. Very good overall. Good check in experience

Descent place to stay
Pros:

Breakfast was descent. Room was quiet and the bed was fair. Location was great by the river, close to town. Nice lounge, bar area right next to the hotel.

Cons:

We've been asked for our arrival time and got there on time. No one was at the reception so we rang the bell a few times but no one came out for ages. We were confused and anxious. Finally someone came out and she was rude - told me to ring the bell, which I had done but no one came, I said. There was no apologies. It did not seem like it crossed her mind that we we could be customers staying at the hotel even though we were at the reception. Not great start of the stay. The room was smaller than it looked in the photo.
