Staff very good
Very pleasant stay! Clean and lovely hotel. Good facilities. Great Breakfast.
Nice ambience
My initial room was very shabby. The basin tap fell off at first use….. I was re located to a better room, but still not great for the money.
All staff. Breakfast. Big room. Location good for buses (or driving) to many beaches such as portreath, porthtowan, St Agnes, gwithian. Also trains to Hayle & St Ives.
Facilities tired. Very slow service at dinner. Room very stuffy (new wing, window opening very small)
The reception staff were nice. There was an initial mix up with the booking but was sorted immediately and we were upgraded. Room was a great size and bed was very comfortable. We had steak, with a variety of sides, which was really nice.
The room we were in was above another guest with dogs, so the barking wasn't great. No air con but they did provide a fan. And the few cleaning issues like the carpet and the extractor fan in the bathroom
Really good breakfast, and friendly staff.
Rooms are outdated and not soundproof. You can hear everyone passing in front of your room.
Staff and service were excellent
No air-conditioning in bedrooms on nights where heatwave meant for a poor night's sleep
Not much - it was pretty much the only place to stay in Redruth
It was incredibly overpriced. £211 for a room - massively overpriced for what you get. The hotel is now old and tired. Whilst it might have been grand once it certainly is not now. Cheap mattresses and pillows - why haven’t you upgraded ? Cheap doors to rooms, horrible door closers and terrible signs from decades ago. No ability to lock a door from inside (is that legal?) Endless corridors and signs that the staff told us not to follow as they are wrong. The fridge in the room was rusty and warmer than the temperature of the room. The land that the hotel once had has now been sold and is being built on. The breakfast was adequate but that is all. The staff were numerous but not the most focussed. I truly don’t understand why the hotel has such a high rating. For anyone looking for a break in Cornwall I would STRONGLY advise avoiding Redruth
All good great breakfast
All was fine
Very spacious room looking over the garden, fan already provided in the room which was a help. Breakfast hit the spot with a good range of pastries, cereal and fruits and the full breakfast was great. All staff were very helpful.
Some of the decor is great and reflects the feeling of being in a quality hotel, however some of the decor looks a little tired and dated.
Lovely friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely delicious food
No air conditioning or adjustable lighting in rooms
This lovely old hotel was a favourite of ours years ago, so we thought we would try it again. The building and decor are olde worlde elegant and still have the yesteryear charm. The room was a good size with everything we needed. Lovely to have the swimming pool downstairs. Food was good too.
Very slippery shower floor and lethally slippy in the pool changing rooms. A lot of hotels seem bent on killing us elderly folk in this way!
Drinks before dinner in the lounge was a less elegant experience than it used to be. No waiter service, no mats, and puddles on the tables.
So nearly excellent, but not quite!
It had charm
Nothing to dislike
Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Disabled parking a bonus when Conferences were in swing.
It was a long trek, up & down stairs, to our room. There was no ‘parkland’ to stroll around as owners have sold it off for house building. The noise from building work on our deck was unacceptable for the room rare we paid.
