Could be better
Pros:

Could be better. Difficult to get internet in the room. They don't seem to post the password on. And only Freeview TV. No other channels available.. good breakfast though. And a nice pub.

Cons:

No internet

Cracking pub-hotel with friendly staff, great breakfast and local atmosphere.
Pros:

Our stay at the Islay Frigate was amazing from start to finish. Friendly welcome from Murray in the bar. The room looked like it had been newly refurbished and everything was really clean. Hotel location is great, right in the centre of town with everything you could want on your doorstep. Great breakfast - with delicious vegan option - served in the dining room overlooking the sea.

Cons:

Nothing could have been better, we loved everything. The staff were very friendly and we felt very welcome.

Comfortable stay in a good location within Tarbert. Extensive breakfast options included.
Pros:

Nicely finished rooms. Appreciated the snacks on arrival. Very quiet for a room above a pub.

Cons:

Able to store our bikes in the beer garden but nowhere to lock them undercover.

Good value simple accommodation, well placed for stop off on way to the ferry to Islay
Pros:

Fresh, contemporary decor. Attractive nautical themed rooms. We had a shared bathroom but that was OK as other guests were considerate and left it clean and tidy. Lovely first floor dining room overlooking the marina. Good cooked breakfast . Bottled water in bedroom with delicious biscuits and tea and coffee making facilities. Easy parking and pretty little town with castle ruins and independent shops.

Cons:

The busy bar on the ground floor was noisy but didn't effect the bedrooms as they were at the top of the building. Would have been nice to have a mirror in the bedroom

Pros:

Room was lovely bed really comfortable and thankfully the rooms were quite as the bar area was really loud.

Cons:

Our breakfast was terrible.. I asked for poached eggs on toast... when it arrived the bread had bearly seen the grill, the eggs were not cooked they were just a big watery mess which in turn made the 'toast' soggy and uneatable.
There was a toaster in the breakfast area where you could make your own toast however this also did not toast the bread and when put through again it then burnt the bread.

Small and cosy hotel
Pros:

Small cosy hotel good location as it is at the center of Tarbert town. Street parking is available if you are driving

Suitable for short stay, such as on transit to Islay via Kennacraig.

Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable

Cons:

Small rooms above the pub and the staircase is very narrow, will be difficult for large suitcases.

some rooms are without en-suite bathroom. you will have a common bathroom which you share with other hotel guest .
