We had a lovely stay, our room was clean and comfortable, the staff where lovely and it was a great base for getting to places. We also found a number of places to eat just down the road
Our Holiday finished a day early and we couldn't enjoy our booking at Whalley Abbey but the understanding of the staff was 5⭐ look forward to a rebooking ..DJWard
Lovely welcome. Lovely views from room. Fantastic location. Peaceful and relaxing stay. Breakfast delicious. Great interesting walk in the grounds. We booked because we attended a wedding near by.
There isn’t anything I didn’t like.
Wonderful location, adjacent to the fascinating Abbey ruins. It is primarily a retreat centre newly moving into hotel work and they are doing an excellent job. The place is warm, comfortable fascinating old house with much of interest. The staff were exceptional - well-organised, kind and constantly helpful. Breakfast really was superb. At the moment it’s really competitively priced too, so an ideal spot for a couple of days away walking and enjoying exploring the abbey and the nearby church.
I liked everything.
Lovely breakfast. Very substantial. The setting of the refectory is beautiful. Very calming to eat here. So quiet and the grounds are lovely to walk around. The history of the site is so interesting. I really enjoyed joining in morning prayers.
Excellent full English breakfast Superb location
Nothing
The abbey setting is very special. Very quiet and peaceful.
The rooms are basic but fine
It was interesting had a lot of history very clean
No USB points in the electric sockets to charge a phone
Great breakfast Excellent location. Easy to park
The staff and location were excellent, very friendly. The breakfast was very good, plenty of choice. Unfortunately the room which we had was rather small and sparse with no TV. It was a surprise to us to find out that it's a 'Christian / Spiritual retreat' which is presumably why the room was sparse. Also, as the staff are only there at specific times, check in is generally between 4pm - 8pm, although we were fortunate as there was someone there when we arrived a couple of hours prior to those times.
Importantly, there is plenty of parking space and the local town is an easy few minutes walk.
As such, all in all a pleasant stay but be aware that it is more a B&B than a hotel and therefore does not have some of the facilities available at a hotel .. but what it does have is friendliness, quietness, a good breakfast and a very relaxed atmosphere.
No TV in the room and specific check in times (4-8pm).
Quiet
This is a really unique residence. A real change from the usual.
Very slightly daters decor but to be honest it’s part of the charm.
Very close to the centre of Whalley market town. The location was excellent with plenty of car parking. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.
The room was very cold and very small. It was an attic room which also had limited views. When the radiator was activated it made a noise which disturbed our sleep. The breakfast was very limited and only just warm.
Historical character and grounds. Lovely staff. Big, warm room and bathroom.
We had difficulty finding someone to let us in when we arrived at 5.30pm.
Breakfast was excellent - freshly cooked after order - the cook could not do enough for us.
Maybe a bottle of water in rooms
HANDY FOR TOWN CENTR AND NICE QUIET SETTING.
BREAKFAST FRESHLY COOKED. YUMMY
No tv anywhere as this is a retreat. But would have liked one in the lounge, or bedroom
Lovely accommodation in historic building. Extremely comfortable bed and a lovely breakfast.
