Spa area not big enough
Beautiful building in stunning grounds. Staff were kind and helpful, especially Kelly on reception and Ross in the dining room.
Would stay again and highly recommend.
Book ahead for spa treatments, we missed out on this but still had a great time.
The tranquil setting, friendly service, wonderful food and comfortable rooms . The spa was a lovely addition
The Coach House rooms are lovely and situated about 100 metres from the main hotel. The beds are super comfy and the bathrooms are huge! The pool and spa facilities are very good. Duxford Hall itself is stunning and the walks around the grounds are brilliant.
What is not advertised when you book the Coach House rooms is the fact that you are unable to get room service to these rooms. At no point in the booking process or check in is it made obvious that this is the case. The leaflets provided in the room all state that room service is available however when trying to order - you are simply told that room service is unavailable for these rooms. This seems like a big oversight for such a prestigious hotel and very frustrating when you pay extra for a room and do not get the full offer of facilities! The staff also seemed very abrupt when this was brought to their attention upon check out!
The heated towel rail also didn't work in our room
Location is great and it's a beautiful building and grounds
We booked the coach room away from main hotel. These 3 rooms look great in the pics but what isn't shown is the bed looks onto a public drive and path, curtains needed to be pulled shut for privacy. Our room was dirty, feaces and pubic hair on toilet rim. Carpet looked stained. Net curtains were stained and had holes in them. Skirting boards not dusted. Room did not feel clean. When reception were contacted we were offered another room in main hotel which was much better but very warm despite turning of the heating. Don't expect any miniature toiletries, only a small bar of soap and basic shampoo and shower gel is provided. Jacuzzi baths have also been turned of.
Spa. Underwhelming and requires updating and is grubby. Main stairwell not swept, doors dirty, tiles dirty. Only 2 unisex changing rooms. If you're staying at hotel you're not provided with a robe or slippers unless you request these from hotel reception. This was not mentioned at check in, so don't use the spa without requesting them 1st. Coffee and tea available near relaxation room which is away from pool area.
Food. Expensive Al a carte menu but a more reasonable menu also on offer. We had saddle of beef with red wine jus, the jus was so salty it ruined the meal, 5 other guests complained too. Eventually we were informed drinks would be taken of the bill, at check out this hadn't happened.
Bar area. Bland and unwelcoming, a bit like the barman that actually stopped serving drinks to make a phone call and complain that people in the bar wanted drinks.
It's a shame that the above issues were noted on our visit, staff were polite and they did rectify our problems but they should not have occurred in the 1st place. Email was sent to the management of the hotel but after 5 days they still have not responded
Good breakfasts. The evening meal menu did not change throughout our stay and there were no daily specials. The choice of meals was limited and quality OK but variable and not what was expected from a 4 rosette rated restaurant.
The lounges were comfortable and well presented. Overall a comfortable stay but food choices and quality need reviewing and improving
Poor unchanging menu choice in restaurant.
Considering we were staying in a suite the bed mattress was poor quality. Would have expected a shower screen on the shower enclosure rather than a shower curtain.
Breakfast was excellent and all staff were outstanding and a credit to the hotel.

The food was good.
The spa was poor strange communal changing on the pool side. The one shower locked and we were told to leave a few minutes before closing time no warning and told to go shower in your room! No gowns available. Just really poor. Windows would not stay open second day we were given wooden wedges (single glazing so condensation) not one USB plug! reception did find me one when I asked. Toiletries were a pump dispenser of shower gel and shampoo no shower cap conditioner the usual cotton buds cotton wool ect. (the dispensers over the bath were impossible to reach when in the bath. Not what I would expect for the price.
Room was lovely. Very clean.
Evening food was good but overpriced.
