Short stay in Harlem
Pros:

Beautiful building, not too far walk from the train station.
Roof terrace just down from my room. You can just about see planes landing at Schiphol airport
Several restaurants very close.

Super verblijf voor een nacht.
Pros:

Hele mooie, nette ruime kamer. Alle snacks en drinken waren inbegrepen en als het op was ,kon je op de gang bijpakken. Heerlijk roomservice ontbijt en top locatie in de stad.

Cons:

Het bed was wat hard, waardoor ik minder goed geslapen heb.

Perfect 10 days in Haarlem
Pros:

The hotel staff was very friendly, kind and accommodating at all times. Room was always clean and loved the location in Haarlem

Cons:

At 8am, there were workers walking on our rooms’ window side pulling cable for some construction work. We were not informed about such work and all of our curtains were wide open at the time. No privacy at all! This was definetely one of the worst experiences we had in hotel stay.

Total misrepresentation and disappointment

Guests should be aware of an ongoing scaffolding issue that was not disclosed by the hotel before my arrival. Extensive scaffolding and workers were directly outside my floor-to-ceiling windows, seriously affecting both the view and privacy of my open-bathroom suite throughout my two-night stay.
Photos show the impact and total loss of privacy.
What I find most unacceptable is that this was clearly a known problem before my arrival. Upon research, I see previous Booking.com reviews dated 28 July and 6 August reported the same scaffolding and workers outside guest windows, yet I arrived on 11 August with no warning from the hotel whatsoever. The situation was ignored by staff during check in, until I pointed out the scaffolding and people outside my room. The hotel did not proactively acknowledge or address the situation.
The hotel is also continuing to advertise for sale, affected accommodation for current stays without disclosing the issue.
I understand that a hotel cannot control contractors, but it absolutely can control what it sells and what it discloses to guests. Had I been informed, I would have booked elsewhere.
Despite repeated assurances during my stay that the situation would improve, it did not. Another room was offered but it was no comparison to the specific room I chose for my stay. That is a feature of this hotel, you can select a uniquely decorated suite to match your taste.
I had to constantly close my curtains like a dark cave to avoid workers being able to directly look into my room which had an OPEN bathroom. On the second morning after being assured the workers would not be returning, I walked out of the open shower to see a worker directly outside my window.
I was effectively misled and sold a room with no view and no privacy, ruining my planned luxe break. They offered €50 compensation which I rejected as it did not compensate in any way. Beware if you are booking.
