Gorgeous property right on the lagoon. Lovely place to go kayaking from and explore the area. Staff were all fantastic and we learnt a lot by being there. Perfect for nature lovers. Food in the restaurant was excellent as well. Highly reccomend.
La atención del personal. Son una bella familia. La cantidad de cocodrilos. La comida deliciosa y abundante. Nos trataron muy bien. Mil gracias.
Really unique location, it’s a bit far but really fun with a family given the crocodiles, beautiful passage through the mangrove with at the end fantastic view over the water with Flamingos just right there. In the evening fireflies and fish can be seen. Very nice people and decent food including crocodile meat (legal, once there you get the explanation, but staying here helps preservation of crocodiles in the area). End of the day enjoy the nice pool and the rooms are good with airconditioning.
Host Sergio and his family go out of their way to make you feel welcome and make your stay as pleasant as possible, without ever being in your way. A stay at Wotoch Aayin will certainly be a unique memorable experience within your vacation, with lots of wildlife. Even if you don't speak Spanish, Sergio can teach you all about Isla Arena, it's wildlife and the functions of each animal within the ecosystem you're visiting. Prepare yourself to see crocodiles, fireflies, flamingo's (and many more small and big birds) and Sergio his cute dogs!
We were totally fine with it, but due to the isolated location (that has its advantages, like being able to see fireflies!) we had no cell phone service during our stay. Don't worry though, there is wifi ;)!
Looks like family run business, eco-friendly crocodile preserve farm. Very dedicated to the cause owner, had inexpensive delicious dinner there (fish in garlic sauce, french fries, rice, veggies), the owner Sergio truly tries you have the best experience there. Sea across the road, nice to look at, but windy, not inviting to swim in. Owner however has kayaks and you can take them to the lagoon on other side of property. Beds comfy, quiet area, all was great. Only small negative, it's a bit out of the way, part of the road bumpy ride. Txs, Sergio, we will fondly remember your lovely place!
Isla Arena is kinda at the end of the world. Yet Sergio and Rosanna run this very cool place. Our room was very clean and cozy. Sergio guided us through the crocodile “ranch” explaining all about the operation and life cycle of them. The boardwalk through the mangroves to the water was really cool and peaceful. I guess my ONLY complaint is we couldn’t get any hot water for showering. First world problem. They opened the restaurant and made is dinner. Discovered that crocodile is delicious. We will come back.
It was with mild intrepidation we took the route from the north (which can be a little narrow and bumpy at parts), though we comfortably managed in a 7 seater suv. What welcomed us was a welcoming family and charming fishing village tucked away in the Yucatan peninsula. We saw the true passion that Sergio and Rossana gave to maintaining the crocodile population in and around the region.
We were so happy to spend a couple of days here and try the lovely fish and empanadas that they have to offer. Thank you both for such a lovely welcome! 🙏🏼
PS. The route to the village has plenty of flamingos and other birds to see, keep an eye out when you're on the sing-lane road with water and hedges on both sides.
Coming from the north can take a little more time with the road being bumpy/potholes at times so give yourself extra time.
(No problems coming from the south at all!)
