Great stay in the peak district
Pros:

Lovely old building in the heart of the peak district The staff were super helpful and the a la carte menu delicious. We had a one night stay for my husband's birthday and were not disappointed

Cons:

The room was a bit smaller than we were expecting, and the hotel is near to a busy road so not quite as peaceful as we anticipated.

Lovely place to stay - would definitely stay again but would like to see the bed situation sorted out.
Pros:

Historic nature of the buildings. Lovely staff and great breakfast.

Cons:

The bed was too soft and springy. The base was in two parts but not clamped together and the whole thing wobbled.
There was no shelf in the bathroom so toiletry bag had to go on the wet floor as the shower was only screened on one side. It seems to be a common problem in hotel bathrooms.

Superb stay
Pros:

Loved the room it was large and the bed was very comfortable. Decor was superb and absolutely loved the tea/coffee facility. I am allergic to caffeine and normally can't drink anything but Rafters supplied decaff coffee, peppermint tea and hot chocolate in the room so thank you it makes a very refreshing change from just tea and coffee.

Cons:

The only thing (and it isn't really a complaint) is for me the pillows were too soft and compressed when you lay on them I would prefer a slightly more support. Husband loved them though.

Wonderful Peak District experience!
Pros:

Beautiful building located in a perfect little village, just the ticket for a relaxing weekend surrounded by nature and charm! Garden view room was perfect, listening to the sound of the river rushing by at night and the birds singing in the morning was just the ticket for a relaxing weekend. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection, we ate the Riverside full English both days which I thoroughly recommend; good quality produce, (sausages were excellent) and the service wonderful. We ate at the restaurant both nights and were not disappointed, it was excellent! the fillet steak was to die for and the desserts were truly scrumptious 😋 All in all we had a wonderful stay, the staff were attentive and polite delivering quality service. Thanks Riverside!

Cons:

Not really a lot to dislike but if I had to pick something it would be that the mattress was too soft for me but that’s just personal preference!
