Children's play area can be easily made much better. It's so easy to have one in a resort and not even an expensive addition. All the millennials travelling currently are doing it with young kids and having a play area near the restaurant will make it so comfortable/relaxing for them.
The location is excellent — close to MG Marg but set back from the noise. The Club Room balconies offer genuinely spectacular Kanchenjunga views when the weather cooperates; we caught clear views in the mornings and evenings for at least three days, which we're told is uncommon in late May. The rooms are spacious and well soundproofed, and the bathrooms are excellent — great water pressure and well-maintained. The TV is modern, and logging into streaming services is straightforward — a genuine plus for a multi-night stay. The Mayal restaurant and room service both delivered consistently good food across multiple meals, and staff across the hotel — front desk, restaurant and housekeeping — were warm and helpful throughout. The breakfast spread was generous, with a good variety and live counters for dosas and eggs. Notably, no staff member angled for tips or sought to have their names mentioned in reviews — a refreshing and welcome contrast to what has become common and despicable practices elsewhere.
We had specifically requested and been confirmed adjoining rooms, but on arrival were allocated rooms that were not adjoining — a significant inconvenience for a family travelling with children. We had to wait two days for them to provide adjoining rooms. Note that adjoining rooms here do not have connecting doors. The lighting in the rooms is over-engineered — too many lights, too many double switches, and a layout that is far from intuitive; a simpler, more thoughtfully designed system is needed. Storage is limited to a cupboard and adjacent shelves, and an additional chest of drawers would make a meaningful difference for longer stays. The double bed consists of two separate mattresses with a noticeable divide — not ideal for couples — and only one large shared comforter is provided, when individual duvets should be an option. Breakfast service lacks a host, so guests seat themselves randomly, which affects the experience. The Wi-Fi is an open network, creating a genuine privacy problem — whatever you stream is visible as an active app on other guests' phones and can be interrupted by them. There is no covered walkway between the accommodation block and the restaurant, so you will get wet in Gangtok's daily rain. We understand the property is moving to ITC management; the new management would do well to address these gaps — the structural strengths are genuinely hard to replicate, and this could easily be an outstanding property.
Wonderful location, extremity friendly , attentive and polite staff.
Room are spacious and clean.
Gym needs a face-lift. The machine don't work properly and are borderline health hazard and accident waiting to happen. Also need round the clock attendant. Most of the time gym was totally abandoned and saw random kids playing ..
Not so great
Sehr sauber, sehr freundlich
