Super easy location, clean facilities, and cheap for NYC.
extreme disappointment and frustration with my recent experience at The Flat Hotel in New York.
I paid approximately $650 for my reservation, only to discover upon arrival that my room was on the fifth floor with no elevator and no private bathroom, requiring guests to use shared bathroom facilities on the floor.
For a property charging nearly $350 per night, this is completely unacceptable. These significant limitations were not clearly or prominently disclosed during the booking process on Booking.com. Had I understood the actual conditions, I would never have made this reservation.
What made the experience even worse was the attitude of your front desk staff. Rather than showing any understanding or willingness to find a solution, they were completely unhelpful and unwilling to accommodate my concerns. I was particularly shocked by their apparent eagerness to take back my room and potentially rebook it while refusing to offer me any refund.
I had no reasonable choice but to leave the property and book another hotel at additional expense. I have now lost $650 for accommodation I could not reasonably use.
I find this situation disgraceful, both in terms of the misleading presentation of the property and the complete lack of customer service.

Clean, nice staff. Can check bags on check in and check out day so you don’t need to take them with to explore on day 1 or last day.
Too many stairs, we were on the fourth floor it was terrible carrying everything up and walking up every night after walking around NYC all day

I was on the 4th floor. No one to assist with luggage. Luckily I'd traveled fairly light by my standards. I left my bag downstairs for it to be placed in the storage unit. Instead, it was left in the hallway, in front of the storage unit. Upon my arrival, the staff weren't particularly friendly. I was presented with a 'take it or leave it,' sort of attitude regarding my room. However later on when I returned to collect my bags the gentleman on duty was exceptionally courteous and even assisted me with my luggage to the taxi. Given the price I'd paid, especially with a shared bathroom, I'd expected more.
