The staff and the quality of the rooms.
I thought having a restaurant that you couldn't eat in unless you wore a jacket rather outdated and quaint.
I was happy to eat in the second restaurant but if I had been entertaining guests I could have been very annoyed. At least the rules were well posted before I arrived.
I’m familiar with the hotel and the location and staff are always very good
We were allocated room 3, and the smell was bad enough to make you gag. It smelled like a dozen wet labradors had stayed there for a month! I should have asked for a room change, but I was on a tight schedule for a dinner appointment, so opted to put up with it. The windows were closed and there was no air freshener in the room. Anybody who simply entered the room would have noticed the acrid smell, and the room should not have been in use till the smell had been dealt with. And at £265 for the one night, I thought this was appalling and ruined my visit.
Location, ambience, garden room dining
No lift, no tea making facilities
No duvet just sheet & blanket, very uncomfortable
Bath a different colour to loo & sink
Lovely staff and Hotel with an excellent bar and dinner. Rooms are first class by international standards. We would love to visit in summer when it must be even nicer (we stayed in February).
Breakfast was served with delicious eggs which must have been specially bought (better than we get anywhere in London) but unfortunately bacon was not delivered to either of us despite us ordering it. This oversight left me a bit grumpy but was an understandable error in a busy restaurant in the morning.
The reception desk gets crowded and is very small. I am not sure how one can improve on this in a listed building but it was quite stressful being jammed up against a large man to my left as I tried to pay my bill.
Lovely hotel and charming, professional, staff.
Mycket bra boende, centralt i Stamford. Trevlig traditionell brittisk atmosfär och riktigt bra mat. Kockarna ska ha en eloge!
Saknades skohorn på rummet. Morgontidningen var inte struken.

Asked for quiet room but was put directly above kitchen extractor fans.
Mostly good
Apart from the Oak Room’s bossy manageress who was only interested in rushing people through dinner as quickly as possible.
Have stayed here on numerous occasions and as always just a wonderful place to relax and unwind.
Lovely breakfast, afternoon tea and very comfortable room.
Occasionally the service can be slow and staff can be a little inattentive.
Excellent location stunning dinner and breakfast
No dislikes everything either let or exceeded expectations
Beautiful old building, amazing staff and lovely food.
Noise from kitchen fan meant we had to change rooms but staff were very accommodating and helpful.
Very attentive staff. Lovely decor and a Fantastic breakfast
Bed was a bit smaller and softer than we would like
Delicious breakfast, comfortable bed, such a fantastic buildings and beautiful town.
Cold water pressure weak, information in room about facilities & room service etc a bit thin, Hollandaise sauce needed more lemon.

Its a bit tired -no slippers which was irrirating

A hotel steeped in history air of luxury however rooms are dated and desperately in need of new carpets
The building still retains its history
