Lovely location and old building with charming character.
Sadly an upgrade due to wife’s birthday resulted in problems with the bed height. Too high for a little lady to get in and out,and the pillows looked of good quality but they were uncomfortable as was the very firm mattress.
Room was clean and Tidy. Breakfast was very good. We did not have dinner or drinks in the hotel.
Perfect breakfast - excellent service - hot coffee.
Dining chairs in the oak room too short a squab.
Need longer support for adults over 170cm.
The cushion was good but edge of the seat put pressure on mid hamstring muscles - unfortunately triggered night cramps.

our stay at the George Hotel in Stamford was excellent. the food in the Oak room was absolutely sublime and deserves a special mention but what really made out visit memorable was the staff. every single member of the team we encountered, and there were many, were exceptional. they were happy, smiling, welcoming and genuienly eager to help. their warmth and professionalism created a wonderful atmosphere throughout our stay. we have stayed at the hotel several times this year, the consistently outstanding service across an entire hotel is very rare these days but the George hotel nailed it! all of the staff should be very proud of what they have acheived. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting stamford. also Huge thanks to the charming man at reception who was happy to change my room, and to the gorgeous italian man who served us outside. we are already looking forward to returning very soon.
Honestly, there was very little to fault If I had to be critical, it would only be to say that we were only able to stay for one night therefore not long enough to enjoy everything that the hotel has to offer.
