We loved Takayama.
Pros:

Hotel Wood Takayama was comfortable and in a wonderful location, right in the old part of town. Everything was within easy walking distance, the room was spacious and the free drinks at happy hour were a bonus. Would highly recommend hotel wood to anyone wanting to visit Takayama and surrounding areas.

Cons:

Check out should be at 11am and not 10am, like other boutique hotels we stayed in Japan.

Super fijn hotel midden in oude centrum
Pros:

Ideale ligging bij oude centrum. Heel mooie kamers. Zeer goed verzorgd ontbijt welke de eerste dag Japans was en de tweede dag westers. In beide gevallen wel met een bento box vol verrassingen! En vanaf 17uur kon je in declining gratis drinken krijgen waaronder ook een sake tasting. Erg leuk en lekker!!

Cons:

Eigenlijk niets van het hotel stond mij tegen.

Exceptional Stay at Hotel Wood Takayama
I cannot recommend Hotel Wood Takayama enough. My stay was absolutely amazing from start to finish.

The room itself was incredibly comfortable, featuring high-quality mattresses and blankets that made for a perfect night's rest. I particularly loved the lighting design, which was both unique and thoughtfully adjusted to create a relaxing atmosphere.

The amenities were a standout part of the experience. The onsen was fantastic, and the provided skin products were of excellent quality. It was also such a lovely touch to have delicious sake served every afternoon—a wonderful way to unwind.

The service truly went above and beyond. When the laundry dryers failed after three hours, the front desk team didn't hesitate to take over and handle the laundry for me overnight, which was incredibly accommodating and appreciated.

To top it all off, the location is unbeatable, situated very close to the markets, making it convenient to explore the area. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Takayama!

Cons:

the washer and drier but they helped us out with it!

Great location, worth it for the onsen/spa after a long day on your feet
Pros:

Great location, easy to walk anywhere in Takayama and nice looking from the outside. Loved the onsen/spa, which we all used and the loungewear & slippers you get upon arriving are charming. Our family room was quite tight but had pretty much everything we needed. Beer and sake on tap is included in the lounge.

Cons:

Some more clothes hooks are badly needed but most hotels seem to lack these. The room felt like a sleep dorm upstairs with beds on the floor and downstairs was quite tight for 4 adults to sit or move around.

Heerlijk hotel op een geweldige plek in Takayama.
Pros:

Prachtig hotel op een perfecte plek in Takayama. Mooie, ruime kamers, heel vriendelijk personeel en heel fijn dat je tussen 17-23 gratis een drankje kan drinken in de bar.

Cons:

Bedden waren wat hard, daar moesten we wel even aan wennen.
