We recently had the pleasure of staying at Samudra Beach Resort during our family vacation, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the serene beauty of Tangalle beach, this charming resort truly exceeded all our expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the warmth and genuine hospitality of the staff made us feel instantly at home. Every detail—from the immaculate, stylish rooms to the tranquil surroundings filled with coconut trees, vibrant flowers, and the soothing sound of the ocean—was thoughtfully curated for relaxation and comfort.
The manager (Mr. Kavindu Sandeepa) works tirelessly with his staff to create a welcoming and memorable experience, and it shows in every detail.
One of the most magical moments was waking up to the sound of waves and watching local fishermen head out to sea. I even walked just a few yards to the beach and bought fresh fish directly from them. Chef Thilan graciously prepared a special, mouthwatering meal for our family with the catch—an experience we’ll never forget. The Sri Lankan breakfast was bursting with authentic flavors, and the Western dishes were equally delicious. The culinary team works tirelessly, and their passion shines through in every bite.
The service throughout our stay was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always eager to help. Our children especially loved the well-maintained swimming pool, which was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
The resort’s location is ideal, with easy access to other stunning beaches, turtle watching, surfing, or simply relaxing in nature’s embrace. It’s incredibly well-priced for the quality and experience offered, making it a true hidden gem.
We only wish we had stayed longer! Whether you're traveling solo or with family, Samudra Beach Resort is a place you’ll want to return to again and again.

Wonderful people and fantastic stay
Pros:

Best team of people at Samudra! Kavindu is the manager, he and the rest of his team were the friendliest, genuine people and went out of their way to make us feel welcome during our stay. Kavindu helped to organise our bird watching tour of Kalametiya, and Udawalawe safari. Ajith served delicious food. Wonderful views to the harbour, sea beyond and safe little beach where you can swim. Our room was really nice. Lovely grounds and swimming pool. Some nice little local beach bars/restaurants too if you walk outside the hotel. We were sorry to leave the friendly team there, they made our stay amazing and we will miss them. Would 10/10 recommend for a laid back, peaceful trip outside the bustle of Tangalle. Thank you Team Samudra Beach. Sally, Kyle and Issy

The beer was not kept in the fridge.

Entire crew led by Kavindu were exceptional with their level of service, attention and going the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable.

Cons:

Level of maintenance of the property was tad short of expectation which could've improved to make justice to the location and the service level and would made me give a 5 star rating.

Pros:

The location is fantastic. We stayed in a family room, which was spacious, clean, and had a great view of the bay. The balcony was large and personal. The bathroom was spacious. The minibar was large, and A/C and hot water worked perfectly. The pool was clean and well-maintained. The receptionist/manager was very friendly and attentive to all our needs. Other staff was also friendly.

Cons:

The food (ala carte) was way overpriced, inconsistent and just average. We ordered fried chicken for two days, and on the first day, it was OK, but on the second day, it was raw inside. The breakfast was also just average.

The service provided was exceptional, all staff members were pending our request and immediately responsive. We got fresh pool towels every day and pool cleaning adjusted to our activity.
The food served was fresh and delicious- the cook made us prawns, lobster and many others a la carte. Lovely place 😊
