Gully ghar- literally a home away from home in the iconic gullies of Varanasi! Saurabh and his wife are so welcoming and made me feel at home. They suggested places to visit, food to eat and we spoke everyday over breakfast about the joys of travelling, solo travellers, work from home, kids and their tantrums to go to school, how opposites attract, marriage, independence, women empowerment and mainly Varanasi.!
They serve and cook breakfast in their kitchen by themselves adding the personal touch, stuff you with lot of food and love so that you are content all day and can clock in 30k steps to explore the city! They also went out of the way and ordered gulab jamuns for me before my departure since I told them that i missed trying it out! Sweetest hosts ever. They also arranged for boar rides and other walking tours! The place is a guest house, decent rooms, clean bathroom, and at a good location. Although its on Assi ghat (one of the most popular and busiest places in Varanasi) yet its peaceful and quiet there.. definitely recommended!!!

Purtroppo quando siamo arrivati a Varanasi c è stato un problema con la carta , gentilmente lo staff si è prestato a risolvere la questione dandoci una camera in un hotel vicino ,dicendo che era la stessa struttura. A malincuore non era ciò che ci aspettavamo anche perché prima di prenotare l’hotel abbiamo visionato le recensioni e tutte erano positive.Per quanto riguarda lo staff sono stati gentilissimi ci hanno accolto con un the caldo molto buono ma per quanto riguarda la camera non c era la doccia non avevamo carta igienica e la camera era poco pulita.Mi dispiace davvero dire tutto ciò anche perché so che è importante per le attività avere recensioni positive ma ho detto solo la verità

Saurabh ji and Sweety Ji, thank you from the depths of our hearts. They say Varanasi is more than a City, it’s a feeling
Pros:

Quite simply- everything!! As soon as we arrived, we felt welcomed with open arms and a warmth you cannot put a price on.
The hosts, Saurabh and Sweety were down to earth, authentic, kind and helpful, with an infectious love of life. It felt like home for the entire time we stayed and we felt included and part of the family, in a way that felt respectful, inclusive and spacious.

They couldn’t do enough to help and to ensure we had the richest experience of Varanasi we could, which we absolutely did,thanks to their generosity.
The facilities were great, the breakfast on the rooftop was awesome, welcomed every morning with gentle kindness and enough yummy breakfast food to fuel you for the incredible experience that is Varanasi.
It is 5 minutes walk from Assi Ghat, and yet offers a quiet escape from the bustle of the city. The rooftop also offers a space for a moment of quiet calm above the wonderful Varanasi.
The art work at the property is also vibrant and brilliant.
I highly recommend the heritage tour of the city. Wiki- the guide, was incredibly knowledgable, friendly, and it felt like the best way to get a good understanding of this incredible city.
We were fortunate enough to stay for Holi, and they hosted a truly brilliant Holi celebration, which was just abundantly colourful and joy full!
I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful home from home. Stay here, you won’t regret it!
