Die 5 Sterne täuschen
Pros:

Frühstück war super, man muss nur aufpassen, weil nicht alles inkludiert ist und man dann draufzahlt

Cons:

Wo soll man anfangen? Anfahrt sehr schwierig, das Personal macht keinen motivierten Eindruck, die Baumhaus Zimmer sind nicht 5 sterne würdig, wir haben dann gezwungenermaßen ein upgrade auf ein anderes zimmer machen müssen, weil das nicht tragbar gewesen wäre. Unsere Zimmer wurde trotz Aufforderung nicht gereinigt. Weder Handtücher wurden ausgetauscht, noch haben wir Wasser bekommen. Der Pool war gekippt und wurde erst nach 3 Tagen gereinigt. Alles in allem kein schöner Aufenthalt der dem Preis gerechtfertigt gewesen wäre. (wir sind eigentlich keine picky 5 sterne hotel gäste, aufgrund des rabatts haben wir dieses hotel gebucht, was ein riesen fehler war) - das potenzial des hotels mit schönen eingangsbereichen etc wäre da, aber wird nicht genutzt

Disappointing stay

Cons:

There were quite a few things that were not good:
- most problematic: it was dirty! The cups were dirty, there was animal poo on the seats, the bathtub was dirty, the bedsheets had small stains.
- warm water didn’t work
- at 5 AM we were woken by the nearby mosque doing their prayers on speakers
- no curtains. It gets very bright in the morning
- it’s not a bad hotel but it’s definitely not worth the money. We paid for 5 stars and got 3 at best

Traumhaft schön, sauber - ein kleines Paradies!
Pros:

Die Villa, das Private Pool und das Gemeinschaftspool waren einfach traumhaft schön! Die Lage mitten im Jungle war super. Die Villa Hillcrest war unsere Lieblingsunterkunft in Sri Lanka. Es eignet sich auch für einen Regennachmittag weil die Privatvilla einfach so schön ist!

Cons:

Wir hatten Mühe, dass die Tuktuks nicht nach oben gefahren sind. Die Villa ist recht abseits, es macht also Sinn einige Snacks mitzubringen da es keine Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe gibt. Das Essen vor Ort ist sehr lecker, aber eher teuer. Man hat nachts laute Musik und eine Moschee gehört, es war also für die abgelegene Lage, trotzdem relativ laut im Zimmer.

• The room was very impressive, spacious, and comfortable.
• The private pool was a big highlight.
• The shower area was also very nice.
• The staff was kind and helpful.
• Communication via WhatsApp was efficient and responsive.

Cons:

• There are gaps near the door that are not sealed, so many insects and spiders get into the room.
• Hot water lasts only about 5 minutes, and even after I reported it, the issue was not fixed.
• There were loud noises at night from animals walking on the roof.
• The hotel is very remote and difficult to reach, and the signage is unclear (especially at night).
• Tuk-tuk drivers usually do not know how to get there.
• Even when a tuk-tuk arrives, it often struggles to climb the long steep road, so we had to walk uphill.
• Access to the villa is not properly arranged.
• There is not enough privacy in the pool area, and people can see in from different directions.
• The front desk is not available late at night.
• Tuk-tuks booked through the hotel are much more expensive, and guests end up paying more because the location is remote and unfamiliar to drivers.

Good concept, poor execution

The staff were responsive on WhatsApp and consistently polite in person. However, their level of training did not meet expectations. The “tree house” finishes were average at best, with noticeable issues in workmanship and detailing.

Pros:

Einfach eine Oase! Die Anlage ist wunderschön gelegen und ein teil der Unterkünfte in Höhe der Baumkronen gebaut, nur vom Bett aus offen Vögel und Glühwürmchen beobachtet werden können- ein Traum. Auch das Personal und das Essen lässt keine Wünsche offen, wir würden sofort wieder hier logieren.

Nice view , not value for money I am afraid.
Pros:

It has a very nice view and the pool was decent .

Cons:

There was supposed to be a spa but there is nothing also the facilities are way less than a 5 star rating, I don’t know how this got 5 stars. The shower was in the room with a toilet covered only by a curtain and there wasn’t even hot water! In the night it’s impossible to eat outside as the lights attract thousands of moths an mosquitos, the room didn’t have mosquito protection. Overall very basic I expected more.

Pros:

Nice pool and the dogs were gorgeous.

Cons:

The view from the room is completely restricted surrounding trees, and the view from the pool restricted by the building in front so you can’t actually see any of the lovely countryside. The hill to get up to the property is super steep so you’ll need a car or a tuktuk with a good engine if you have big bags. The food was of poor quality and expensive, we had room service on one of the evenings and after asking them to clear the plates twice so that insects and vermin didn’t come for it, they were still there in the morning! The room itself is of very poor quality, curtains super thin and don’t give any privacy, the carpet was wet around the bathroom (no idea why carpet was used) and the shower was broken. There were loads of holes in the bed sheets and nowhere comfortable to sit either. Just a completely unwelcoming place to stay with very cheap finishes everywhere. Staff were uninterested, slow and did a lot of giggling between themselves. Water wasn’t topped up in the room - I could go on. For just under £100 a night we could have stayed for a week in a hostel of the same standard. Money wasted here.
